I've had it with Maelin. What server has the best population? By which I mean to say, is there even a server in existence where there are sub-lvl 40 characters who aren't bazaar mules?

Lol, this question KEEPS getting asked.

Nobody knows...it's the great EQ mystery. The progression servers may have more lower level toons, not sure. I think currently, SoE is shooing the free-trial folks to Stromm.

I currently play on Stromm. I haven't a clue about the populations and level spread, but I do recall last night seeing someone looking for people to get a level 25-30 LDoN going (I actually considered joining with an alt just cuz an LDoN sounded fun).

I fear however, that low level toons are gonna be pretty scarce anywhere.Smiley: frown

...I'm hoping for a server merge soon.

Of the few servers i have played from what i saw maelin had the highest population by a pretty good margin. I have played FV, Maelin, drinal, xegony and stromm in the last few months trying to find that answer for myself. I do have odd play times though usually 3-8 P.M. CST

EDIT: Stromm was the closest to maelin almost seemed the same. The others seemed quite a bit more dead.

I'm just pissed because I've just paid for 3 months of this, and now I'm bored because I've got no one to interact with.

Both my Pally and Necro are too low a lvl to do anything with the majority of the players.

Meh, I thought Maelin had a pretty good lower level population. Not new players, but a lot of lower level alts. All my Lowbies are there, but I'm usually boxing and I rarely worry about looking for a group. All the TSS zones appear to be pretty decently populated though. I wouldn't oppose another server merge though.

I rarely see lowbies on Sleeper except for the time I did some xp grinding in Kurn's. There were about two other groups in the zone at the time. Aside from that, I've been in Steamfonts, Nek. Forest, Commonlands, Warrens & Blackburrow and was alone in each of them. I suppose that everyone might just do Kurn's and Padual Caverns but I've been trying to run armor quests which take me to old world zones.

I'm on the Tunare server and, although I am no expert, I find that it has pretyy nice populations of all level ranges. I play a 71 rogue and no problems getting a group. It is even easier for my 43 beastlord to get a group. For example I walked errr zoned into The Overthere and /ooc'd 43 Beast LFG and got an invite right away (also happened in City of Mist). I understand that won't happen every time but it will happen quite a bit, thats how its been for me. Also the guild i am in are on alts a lot, so I am betting if you join a guild there will be many many more chances for groups. It really depends on the initaitive(sp?) of the player. To my point the Tunare server is great in my opinion.

My suggestion, sort out what time slot you play in most of the time. Go to EQ Players and check out the list of guilds that play in the same time slot as you. Make an application to join and transfer to that server. Be nice genuinely, if you lay on the BS people will see through it and ignore you, make friends and you will have all the people you want to group with.

I was on E'ci until it merged and became Tunare.
At that point I was a bit bored with the game and left for around 18months. Played some EQII...
I liked the Tunare server a lot. I was in a couple of guilds that were fantastic and I never had a problem finding a group if I wanted one. That changed with LDoNs though. I had a tough time finding a group with my ranger, seemingly everyone wanted a tank or healer.
Now I play on Stromm, I'm back in a guild and the people are cool. Its all good.

Perfect example of how to go about things when LFG...the LFG tool is sadly waaaay too underused, and is much of the reason why people spend "hours" sitting in pok not getting group invites, I've always found little trouble at all getting a group at lots of level ranges if I /ooc it in the zone itself...

...sorry if I'm a bit off topic, just thought this was a bit of solid advice (possibly even helpful) for those having troubles with finding groups...

Hehe, i play on Saryn(Mithaniel Mar) and.. lower levels are not scarce, just no one levels the old fashion way anymore. I go into PC-EC-OT and all their low lvl alts are being Powerleveled. Although i did get 1 group the whoel time leveling up my GAR (lvl28) was in EC but he was 2boxing a higher cleric for heals. No one levels up anymore it seems, just rushes through the levels :(

Everyone rushes through the low levels because almost all of us have done them 4000 times already. Leveling is easier than ever, whether being PLed or just soloing, so grouping isn't seen as necessary for most people. As for the argument that you don't learn your class when leveling so fast and without groups, several classes overlap in abilities and there are tons of forums with tons of information on them. The crumbs have also mostly been shaken out and we're left with a majority of competent players who quickly learn how to interact with groups. This has been my experience anyway.

Yes, I agree.

...and this is what leaves the true EQ newb seriously SOL when it comes to developing a network of people to progress through content with.

Someone else suggested a guild. I'd second that. If you can hook up with a fairly active guild, you may find some opportunity to group with them, but also, just having people to chat with can help ease the solo grindage boredom.

My server is almost completely dead this sucks! VG kicked my guilds *** about half of guild quit in the past 2 weeks. We need server mergers its not a good sign when their are less than 10 people in your servers POK at a time of day which used to host 200+ in there!
