LDoNs over hotspotsFollow

Do LDoNs give good exp nowadays? Cause i remember doing them when they first came out and they were the cooolest. Just started a new toon, Fondling (GAR-Mithaniel Mar), and i miss doing the LDoNs and.. was wondering if they gave better, same, or less experience than any of the hotspots that people go to nowadays at lvls.. 20-30.

LDoNs are good experience, but not as good as the hotspots. LDoNs are fun, though and your group would have the zone to themselves. The hotspots get kind of crowded sometimes and can become train central. Plus, you can earn points for gear and spells.

The hot spots will be better xp and well as providing some added loot possiblities (hot zone augments). Unrest and ToFSs, the hot zones around the levels you mentioned, are amazingly fun zones as well. LDoN's while not as much xp/mob, may yeild more over-all xp simply because you have 4/5/6/ people all stuck together in one zone for the duration of the mission (presumably), which makes for good fun as well.

Thing is, as long as you can find the company you can do both hot zones and LDoN's.

Another side benefit to LDON's is that they are a great free way to get augments for your gear. At your level they may be only +3 or +4, but free is free and they would fill up slots that you ordinarily couldn't plus your stats won't be maxed at that level.

I did the adventure stone quest, but your right there are almost no people who do LDON, which sucks cause can only get some spells there and if you do all the quests they give you Wayfarer's emblem which is an excellent charm.

I could be wrong but the way i understand it all the ldon spells can now be researched so you dont necessarily need to do ldons to get them

i am sure if i am wrong i will be corrected though :)

LDoNs are good for exp up to the 50s or so; into the 60s it's pretty laughable.

My experience recently is that hotspots give much more xp than LDoNs.

Since LDoNs scale to the avg level of the group the lower level members get more noticeable xp, while the higher level members often complain about getting almost no xp. Only if the group is all within a couple levels and you go for a Hard mission will the xp be what most people these days would consider decent. However, hard LDoNs can be challenging if you don't have the right group.

Some hotspots are train-prone, some are challenging for other reasons (key required, zone out not near zone in, things like that) but they all have new named dropping new inflated gear, and all have those unmasked changeling mobs that drop augs better than any LDoN aug available near the level of the zone.

Spells from LDoN merchants are now tradeable, with the notable exception of Remove Greater Curse. Many of these spells are also researchable now too.

I love LDoNs and wish I could do them more often. As it is, I have to work very hard to put together a group willing to do one when I really get the hankering. Almost no one wants to bother with them when the xp isn't so good anymore. Cheers for making most spells tradeable, but they also need to either reduce the point cost of items, increase vastly the amount of points rewarded, or change LDoNs to allow adding or replacing members after the adventure is given.

I think LDoN's are the great "secret" of EQ. From 20 to 45 or so they are very good experience. They also are great for learning to work together as a group. One other big plus, up until about level 40 you can do LDoN's with almost any group make up. I've done lots of LDoN's in the 30's with no real tank and no cleric, just lots of DPS and they were a blast. LDoN's are one of my favorite ways to level up alts.

I prefer Ldon's to hot spots, I also got one of my most favorite weapons from LDoN points which my Ranger used into her late 50's. I've been considering making more of an effort to get back to doing Ldon's. Sometimes you can get a bad pickup group but such is the way of things =)
