...but new PET NAMES!

I'm really tired of EQ pet names.

My Druids little bear cub has been dubbed "Lucky" (he dies ALL the time).

What would you, or have you named your EQ pet?

I miss the pet naming feature from WoW. I used to have a darling pet Phororhacos named Lefty. Mostly because his "idle" animation was him grooming his left wing as if he had OCD.

But WoW pets (at least the Hunter ones) grew with you and learned skills and stuff. I suppose that EQ pets are more disposable in a "Damn, my pet died. Time to summon and re-equip another" sense.

Long, long ago, before there were even random name generators there were random letter generators. I think that's what the original EQ devs used to create pet names.

It's time for some new ones.

I vote for a "name-your-own-pet" system, at least for beastlords. I mean, seriously, they're supposed to be totally in tune with a pet nemed "Soandso's warder"?

I agree, I wish we could name our pets, even if it's just Beastlord pets. I've dubbed my Iksar beastie's scaled wolf "Paco," and he's known as that throughout the guild.

I think naming the pets would indeed be a nice feature. The system thats being used now is silly. Who would name their pet Jabobn or Gabober anyway? My girlfriend was pleased almost to insanity when her mage summoned the pet 'Jasn' ( which is her ex-husband's name ).

But especially for beastlords, since by roleplay stanbdards they are your lifetime friend, they should be allowed to have a name given to them. It sounds so odd when I speak to my BST's pet and call him Holr's Warder! I certainly wouldnt call my dog " Greg's Dog!"

I used to call my Warder "BAWB" which is short for "Beater of All Wussy Beastie's". But in roleplay standards, his name is "Shir'Neth"...lest thats what he told me it was...

Do you speak elemental? Among fire elementals, the name Gbir might be a mark of honor!

I agree that naming pets would be a nice thing to have; I have been calling my mage's pet Joboo for a ling while now. That's a name from one of my wife's favorite movie, Major League.

This is a great idea. EQ instead of expanding again in 6 months should spend the next 6 months coming up with a hundred or so of these kind of "patch ideas" they reward/cost factor is heavily in eq and the players favor.

Other things they could do is all kinda of mini quests for titles, instances that grant titles, tones of quests for utility clickies that have no real game benefit but are fun for the players. Like illusions etc. etc etc

In my younger days I called my necro pet *****, for obvious reasons. Now it's a spectre pet and that's not appropriate, so I just call him dumbass.

Naming (sp?) pets is a great idea. Should be like your surname, meaning once you get it approved you're stuck with it forever. Mages could have names for all their pets, ie. fire gets a name, water gets a name, etc. And necros could have different names for the war, monk, rog, and spectre pet. Beasts would only need to choose one name, druids only one name. And well only because I saw someone mention wizzy pets....thats not a pet. Oh, I forgot chanters, I suppose they could name their pet too.

Awsome idea though, I don't know what I would name my necro's pet since most the time I just call him dummy.

Actually that isn't true. You can change your surname or just remove it. Can only be changed once a week if I remember correctly.

I'd definitely name my pet Dummy. :)

i would name my pet everything i can think of (obviously not trying to break any bad word filter of course)...i dont even care though they could make necro pets say "Deadpeddler's Pet"...that would be alot nicer for buffing in areas where theres alot of people/pets sitting around
