My guild raids twice a week, nonmandatory attendence.

It works well because it doesn't require time commitments like a raiding guild, but it allows us to do things like our 1.5s (and a couple of 2.0s), DoN Progression, etc etc.

My guild does Time raids on Sunday, DoN raids on Tuesdays, epic raids on Thursdays, and sometimes just-for-fun raids on one of the other days.

I wonder if we can relate this poll to the idea of casual/non-casual players. If so, which poll options would be the boundries?

I suppose if you were a casual player in a guild that is constantly raiding then you'd be see many raids simply because there would always a raid to join when you log in.

But just for fun I would guess "Once per month" or less would indicate a casual player.

Don't have all my sigs done yet for anguish (yeah I know, slacker) but I'm right there with Groogle...Tacvi every week, and epic hits and such on the weekends.

Edit -- Finished my sigs and handed em in yesterday. Hello Anguish :-)

My guild is a raiding guild, so we raid 7 days a week from 3pm -9pm pst. I attend most, usually 6 or 7 days a week. We do coa, don stuff to start until more folks login and then its off to DP usually... fun stuff!

As a casual player in a non-raiding guild on the FV Server I have raided only 1 time since joining FV in Feb '06, and only participated in 2 raids on the Bertoxxulous server that I came from in the 4+ years I was there. I do have my epic but it was not necessary to raid to get it, no I did not buy it, as we used groups of 6 or less for most of the fights.
During late Spetember and early October my playing time went from roughly 30 hours a week to less than 5 hours per week, due to a change in my job.

Pity that there are not any European raiding guilds on Drinal server. At least none left that I know of. It's almost impossible to raid on USA times as raiding often starts at midnight GMT time, and if you have to work or have school then its just a no go from the start.

But enough gripping from me back to the question, about once a week on an open plane of time raid for me. Starts at midnight Saturdays and goes on till 7am GMT time, lucky I have Sunday I can sleep in on.

My guild raids 5 days a week (Monday-Thursday then Saturday), but Friday's and Sunday's we sometimes do non-DKP nights, where we do 24 man progression raids and Tacvi.

I only raid about 2 or 3 times a month. I like grouping more than raiding.

Pretty much every night 6cst-10cst. An odd day off here and there if nothing worthwhile is up.

I raid three nights per week with Terror Australis. TA has been around on The Rathe for a few years now and although we consider ourselves to be a progression raiding guild, we do not have manadatory attendance.

TA plays in the Australia/Pacific time zone and so has mostly Aussie/NZ/Malaysian/Singapore and US military members. Like many guilds these days we have had to re-build ourselves a few times with people leaving over the years and so although we have killed Vishimta and are heading into the Demi Planes, we still farm CoA, DoN and PoR gearing up our newer members.

We have had to learn to maintain a fine balance between wanting to push ahead with progression for our core raiders and also keeping a "family/casual" atmosphere to provide a good home for people who play in our time slot. Guilds who want to survive these days cannot afford to be too restrictive, we have to recognise both that the player base is smaller and players are getting older and have family/work/business demands that cut into "EQ" time.

We get an average of 45 per raid night, around 30 of whom are always there on time ready to go, the remainder come and go as life permits. This makes it pretty tough for the Raid Council of course, especially when key classes don't turn up. To try to cope with this we recently introduced the idea of "Raid Helpers", these are alts of people who don't normally raid with 2 boxes, but who are willing and capable of bringing and alt 2 box along to a raid to help out. So on a bad night when we only get 30 regulars we can load up around 10 alt 2 boxes and still hit CoA targets etc.

Raiding guilds now seem to be a very different beast to what they were three or four years ago, but we are surviving and still progressing, slowly but surely.

I had my fill of raiding back during Velious days....way too much time in TOV helping people get armor, and all xp always going to some rogue/wizard group. So now I play 4 characters at once, have pretty decent stats on them considering they have no raid gear, and have a very laid back guild that's basically just a chat-channel for people I work with in real life.

There is too much hurry up and wait on raids. There is also just too much waiting on morons in general. When I landed on Povar I joined a guild a RL buddy was in and tried raiding again briefly, very briefly. DoDH had just come out and it took 45 mins to get 30 people from PoK to Nek Forest....then when it was discovered that we didn't have enough clerics for what the guild elders had planned, they figured we'd do a DoN raid, and 3/4 the people there couldn't get from Nek Forest to Lavastorm without a druid port. I was ashamed to be guilded with such inept morons, was saddened by how completely dumb you can be and still have level 70 chars with better gear then I had, and reminded in general why I didn't raid anymore.

As a very casual player of 3 years I can't say as I've ever been on one. Mind you my main's only lvl 52 so it's not like it's been necessary yet. For the most part I just duo with my brother or play with a small group.

you can solve this by not raiding, but you can also solve this just by not raiding with idiots.

I would love to raid more, however with a family of 5 I just don't have time to dedicated to it. I am lucky if I get 2 raids a year.
