man its expansion time again. PT barnum was right a sucker is born everyminute, and seemingly with an eq account.
#28 Jan 21 2007 at 5:29 AM Rating: Default
I think it's sad SoE really doesnt care about EQ anymore this expansion and the last one have only been availible by digital download, how do you draw in new players and try to keep the game alive when you wont even market your expansions so they will see them? It looks like SoE is just trying to make as much $ out of this as possible with the least amount of effort and then within the next few years get rid of it. It's sad to see one of the best MMO's ever made in such a state.
#29 Jan 21 2007 at 6:33 AM Rating: Decent
I have to agree. SoE is not interested in gaining new players by not marketing or putting this expansion on store shelves. Very sad to see.

I did not buy TSS, will not buy this expansion and more than likely will not buy any future expansions. There is so much of the EQ would I have not explored. I'm guessing I've adventured in 10% of the DoD expansion, 20% in PoR, OoW prolly 50%. I think it almost took me from the time OoW came out til DoD came out to get my damn OoW faction up. Which, come to find out was a complete waste of time because all new expansions offer greater gear than previous expansions. Hell the only reason I bought PoR was so I could do some DAINS. I didnt want to miss out on the quick and ez xp. Figured they nerf that when TSS came out.

Hate to say it, but I do feel we are playing a game that it's days are numbered.

Unless they release an expansion which gives out something universally useful (like the extra bank slots), I won't be getting this one. I have barely scratched the surface of TSS, so I'll be a while.

More missions excellent idea

Not to worry. They are exactly the same thing. There is no ship to ship combat. It is just a mission in an instanced zone that looks like 2 ships.

I voted for the banners, seems like the only thing worthwhile to me. They will be very useful in our raids and help us Brun Tunat in Tacvi faster (yeah i said Brun...TF knows what I'm talkin about lol) I'll be buyin the expansion either way, damn you SoE.....how about you make it 2 every 1.5 years at least :/

I won't be buying this ill-conceived piece of cr@p...None of it interests me in the slightest.

I'm not going to buy TBS from the start, but I voted for Fellowships. My guild isn't that active anymore it seems, but I'm grouping regularly with friends, so the fellowship feature might be benificial.

Voted "None of the above" like so many people. Although I will eventually purchase it so I have "every expansion" it looks like I'll be exploring it as much as I explored LoY...Not very much. Some things looks interesting but thats about it. Nothing ground breaking is being introduced with new concepts or original idea's.
And I just had a discussion with guildies about how EQ2 is still boxing expansions on store shelves but original EQ isn't. Even WoW is boxing there expansion on store shelves. Why isn't EQ doing the same? It was supposed to compete with EQ2 and WoW, but I guess Sony doesn't want to compete with itself and its failure at a sequel(EQ2). If they would concentrate on EQ and give it the resources it had, they wouldn't even need EQ2 unless its a copyright/written agreement they made with Verant before it was sold to the them.
I'm also inclined to believe that its not the developers fault but someone on the upper rings of management who are dictating these decisions(I could be wrong about this.) as the exodus of developers leaving EQ is staggering. Like rats fleeing from a sinking ship. Some of the people leaving deaply care/cared about EQ and wanted it to thrive after the EQ2/WoW split. All things must come to an end and I have a feeling that someone in the upper part of management wants that to come a little to pre-maturely so they can concentrate resources($$$) on EQ2 and any other half-baked idea they can think of.

I be playing until the mast is completely under the water just like in Pirates of the Carribean's opening scene with Jonny Depth(sp?).

-Savage Lord Grimwar of Prexus

p.s. Mabye thats why they have the ship theme. The developers who care are telling us to get off the sinking ship in a subtle way?

Oooh! Can the new expansion have Rattkins as the next playable race?

The only thing that would make me buy this expansion would be a new spell or spells to my Paladin pacify line. Other than that, I will pass.

There's already a new paci spell for your pally, you don't need anything beyond TSS for it, you just have to look. I believe it's in sunderock from someone _____ the serene. the name escapes me at this time though

From Prathun on eqplayers.com
All classes that previously had a lull spell need to go pick up the new lvl 71+ version from The Quiet Wanderer in Sunderock Springs.

I honestly believe SOE has lost all creative hope with this expansion."Yes,let us add high seas adventure to our fantasy world,I'm sure it'll be awesome!" /sarcasm

To be fair, SOE has been putting out recent expansions largely based on player requests: "Let's have an Asian themed expansion" (DoN), "Let's have a dungeon/underground themed expansion" (DoDH), "Fill in (this) area of the old game map" (DoN/PoR/TSS), etc.

If they're doing 'high seas', it's almost certainly because folks have asked for 'high seas'.

The real reason to buy this (and any expansion) is new content. The rest is gimmicky and may tempt some people into it, but having new zones, new quests and new mobs is generally the biggest change for an expansion.

Better to have them releasing new content quickly than waste time revamping old zones that nobody will go to anyway or fix petty bugs that have minimal effect. Sure, those would be nice, but with limited resources, I'd rather see big new fun stuff than rehashed old stuff.

Vote: No Opinion, unlikely to rush to download and/or buy

Give us 20-item bank containers and I'll buy it.

Good grief, another expansion? Oh and look at that, download only. SoE is sucking the last drop from the poor EQ playerbase, what little is left of it. Moneygrubbing bastards.

I abstain from this poll, but my desire is EQs rapid death so that a few loved guildies will finally give it up and come to WoW, an actual living breathing game. It's not without warts but at least it doesnt resemble a particularly ugly ****, making those last few sad spirals before going down the tube.

I thought i'd hate WoW as well - I played EQ for 6 years, so I bought into the "too easy, no content, no end game" crapola that you hear a lot of. I will make no comment on the high end of Wow. It might suck badly or it might be trhe best thing ever. But the low, mid, and i imagine hi-but-not-uber game is Spectacular in every way shape and form. I dont want to sound like a Blizz evangelist here, but don't you "casual" players think you need to continue to put up with SOEs crap. There's an alternative. Plus, instead of closing servers, they're actually *gulp* ADDING them. I started on a brand new server (like, open for 2 hours) in agame I'd never played before. It was phenomenal.

This POS expansion might actually get EQ closer to dead; I can see no other positives.

Oh - I see they finally decided to allow drakkin dye and unnerf harmony/Pacify classes. WTG idiots - if you hadnt jerked around so many players with this nonsense at the TSS beta -> launch, you'd probably not have lost so many accounts, including my 2.

Maybe SOE is counting on the hoardes of people who will buy this because their guild requires it. I am sure everyone in my guild will buy it for that reason alone. When i read about this expansion however, there was absolutely nothing to enthrall me! Believe me i am easily "conned" out of my money too. I would happily pay $30 for a single extra bank slot or even better, shared bank slot.
I would pay $30 for epic 3.0. in content. I would pay $30 for an extra 5 levels even. But the only reason I will buy this is because my guild will require it.

That is quite sad I think. So I voted none.
#49 Jan 24 2007 at 12:45 AM Rating: Decent
Actually there is no such thing as an upgrade to any paladin pacify line of spells on this vendor, nor will there be any upgrade ever according to SOE. Paladins are not considered an essential pulling class so there are no plans to give them the ability to pacify any mob over level 55 =(

@the poster above who only just got TSS two weeks ago, and only to get/upgrade TSS armor:

TSS works fine for me for solo/duoing purposes - pity you bought it for the end game content, which is crap, according to people who are at that level ;-)

This BS expansion seems like another LoY: Very little actual content, a few 'ok handy' features (e.g. guild banner) and another $30 thrown at the Kraken that is SOE.

I loved what they did for the casual and semi-casual players with TSS. I only wish they'd reuse old zones rather than introduce new ones that will be crowded for exactly one week, until everyone and their neighbor has figured out how to maximise (xp+loot)/hour and so end up camping the same four spots.

Do anyone even remember the Qeynos Badge of Honor? If you don't know this quest, look it up, it's arguably the best quest in the game and has been there forever. Yes, it's semi-broken, but it is doable, fun and (deep breath) it has a STORYLINE! And yes, you can get better gear these days, but what made EQ great was the sense of accomplishment, not the maximising of aa yield per hour played. (Can you tell I met a level 72 yesterday who could find Qeynos?)

Anyone have cheese? There is enough WHINE for all here.

If you have the time to come here and whine, your going to buy it. Grow up little boys and girls. Your WHINING aout a game you are paying a montly fee for. Quit or go play WoW. Your WHINING about a game you pay/play every day. Your,im not going to buy this whining crying like a bunch of babies makes me want to puke.

Your all like the smoker who is going to quit becuase he coughs to much. Than stops at the store and buys another pack. Time in and time out. Bet you all on your 12th pack and in another few weeks will go to 13th

Posting on this site does notting let me repeat does notting. E-mail sony, call Sony, don't buy it, quit the game whatever. But you know what if someone was to save this thread and 7-8 months from now when another expan comes out, same names will be hear crying.
