Hey everyone,
I am thinking of playing EQ again. But there is one thing that is bothering me. The last time I played, or er..tried to play, it was very strange. It seemed that EQ had become a land of only high level characters, or high levels twinking out their low level characters. It didn't really leave much for the new or lower level player. By this I'm talking about plat. I remember when I played, I'll use a centi longsword for example, was around 4.5k at most. The last time I tried to play the Centi went up to 11k and the shortsword went up to 5k. Really, how is a low level supposed to afford some newbie armor if the prices have gone up that much.
I do remember the newbie armor quests in your home city and a couple in PoK. But they don't seem like it would be tough enough to handle the mobs these days.
Also, I tried to get a group in Paludal once and it was just people 2boxing and powerleveling their characters without any consent or slightest interest to even think of inviting someone else to hunt with them, so where can a low level grab a group nowadays?
I do have Serpent Spine activated on my account and i'm not sure about the new areas . But does that place have any good armor drops or quests that will actually be useful?

Thanks in Advance

selling spiderling silk for 20 plat, ten times what it used to sell for? or, god forbid, just using gear you can hunt?

why does someone need your consent to powerlevel? you don't need their consent to not do so.

IMO it is very easy to start out as a newbie. I've only been playing about a year and I am certianly not rich but i have above average gear. Just use the crap gear you can get make money via looting setting up trader...ect. and eventually you will get better and keep progressing. In myy server(tunare) it is very easy to find a pick-up group in about 5 min.....i start most of my group and as a whole we decide where we will hunt for the secion.

PS: it helps alot if you can find a starting guild

Good luck

The new zones in the Serpent's Spine expansion have some very nice and useful gear. Some of it is dropped and some are quested. There are a multitude of quests to keep you busy. By earning your gear, you won't have to worry about plat for awhile.

I just recently started a drakkin with no twinks from my alts and to begin with no guild. I haven't yet had to Crescent reach and there is ooc chat helping each other. Its how I remember CB being when I started. So I recommend you start there, yes you get people powerleveling twinks but you also get straight forward newbies. The quests aren't badly structured either to guide you through and the mobs are levelled well.
