OK, I current have both a pally and cleric, and am deciding on whether to add a bard or a monk to make it a trio. Which do you all think and why?

How about if I was adding the bard or monk to a pally/shammy combo?

unless you've encountered serious problems pulling, I'd add a wizard instead.

ports, and a VERY easy dps box. ooc regen does wonders.

You could use a slower, perhaps a shammy? also that proc they give (forget the name) that does 400dmg is really handy

For various reasons (to lengthy to list here), I am only going to add either bard or monk. Wondering just about those two which would be better.

hm, how are you going to bot the new char? do you have 2 or 3 machines, or do you run multiple instances?

apart from that, the bard is an addition to any group, very versatile (as you surely know yourself, hehe) - slows, regen, haste, Crowd Control.. I would think he is more difficult to box though than a monk in order to utilize him properly (never did box bard, so I may be wrong).

the monk you "only" need to position properly, and then he does his job - from boxing a Wiz and a Pal though I know, that boxing melees can be tricky, due to push i.e. - not a fire+forget char really either :(

I guess that you would potentially use 80% of the monks abilities when 3 boxing, and maybe 50% of what a Bard can add... just some numbers...

hmmm...

If you're going to limit yourself to either a bard or monk, I'd say go with the monk. In a box situation you won't be able to really get the utility a bard brings. The monk would make for great pulling and dps in this trio though. Not wizard-great dps, but nice dps that a pally/cleric combo could really use.

Can't imagine 2-boxing a Pally with a Bard (much less 3-box), with all the clicking you need to do. Monk might be a bit easier to pull off.

Im gonna have to say Wizard. As your three boxing you dont want to have to watch two chars and make sure they are both on the mob. With a wizard you can watch your pally primarily, heal with your cleric (duh) and when the mob hits a certain lvl of HPs, click to your wizard, hit a button, then click back to your pally. Simple. With any melee char your going to have to pay less attention to your pally which might hurt your agro building.

On a side not a Shammy might be nice for slows and dots and would essentially require the same sort of set up. (Still think the wizard would be the easiest to utilize on your third box)

I recommend before making your final decision to hop onto test server, testbuff the prospective trio and give it a go.

Most 3 boxers try to avoid trios with more than 1 melee toon. With the amount of push these days it can get frustrating positioning multiple melee in a multi box setup.

Btw, have you considered a berserker or even a ranger? Given your current duo, I'm sure you're used to living without snare, but if you will be adding another toon why not cover more of the bases? ie. tank, healing, snaring, slow etc.

Oh and if you are absolutely deadset on monk or bard, then I have to agree with Z above. Go with monk.

Make a shammy and SK duo and you won't need to add a third.

Bard would be much easier to box nowadays, sans the melee bit.

With the options of bard or monk, I'd have to say bard. Especially with Melodies bards can to an extent fire-and-forget, even if it's just sitting there singing slow during a fight and manasong in downtime.

I'd vote bard as well. It would take some work, but would bring much more utility to your group than the monk.
