what to do?Follow

#1 Jan 10 2007 at 8:36 AM Rating: Good
the other day i was in WOS and my group was killing mobs minding out own business. when all of a sudden out of no place here comes this guy came running up... and he stopped right in front of my group hailed us the he was just gone.. and 5000 mobs pounded us in to the dirt....

i being a necro FD;d when I saw them... anyway.. I did / in wos and there was only 8 people in wos.. my group which is now dead and 2 others..

a wiz and a mage...

i am guessing the guy ran the wiz around gathered a very large train and headed our way.. and then at the right time coth the wiz back and let the train just plow into us....

so we rez up ask him about it he says... of course im at the Anguish zone in... not at the north wall.. could not be me..

we start fighting again and POW again it happens....

we /report and tell him we are..

now the guy has made it a habbit to show up in the same zone that we group in.. and the same deal happens he does it 1 time leaves for 3 or 4 days and then does it again...
here is my question... the GM's are doing nothing.. i doubt they will....

I have access to a SK / necro / mage... should I do the same deal to him when his guild is on a raid in one of the open zones in TSS... or drop his groups a few times? he is lvl 75 and from a higher end guild...

I have sent /tells to the Guild leader and of course he denies doing it...and the guild leader always says... man he is all the way over in xyz zone.. how could he have just trained you....

this has happened 4 times in the last 2 weeks

what would you do?

My 2cp...

Do not retaliate.

Keep hounding the GMs, eventually one will take some sort of action. /report every incident and send the perp tells (no profanity). If he is foolish enough to answer you the GMs will have record of his response. Have all your groupmates send reports. If 8 or 9 people complain it carries more weight than one.

If he does belong to a guild, look up their website and complain there as well. It is possible he is retaliating for some perceived slight. Small-minded people tend to do this. This is the wrong way to go about it so do not escalate things by retaliating yourself.

If GMs do nothing after 8 people complain and you send 24 petitions....start stalking him? But do not retaliate hehe...

If you retaliate and the GMs decide to take action it won't matter who started it.

Edit:

Obvious cya response. If he feigns like it is not possible to train someone and get to zone xyz quickly he is an idiot (especially a WIZARD).

Wizard's and druids can get Exodus. An instant evac. So the guy may not have needed to be CoTH'd at all, but simply hit the Exodus button. Not sure if that matters in your story or not.

But yeah, listen to Dot. He's the expert on dealing with us small-minded people he's pissed off. Whatever you do, don't try and have a reasonable conversation with the guy.....that might actually shed some light on the problem and accomplish something.

No sense in trying reasonable conversation with small-minded, intractable or otherwise insane people, no.

It is possible he is pulling pranks or just trying to **** you off more. Small-minded people take no end of delight in this type of activity.

If there is no price to pay (being banned for example, or not given 5 second chances) then there is no motivation for them to stop their antics.

QFT

Still, there's a good possibility that this person, like most of us, falls under the big ol average portion of the normalacy bell curve.

Next time you see this guy in the zone you're in, try and strike up a friendly conversation without any being accusatory and see if you can find out what' s up. But keep /log going just in case.

If the GM's have no proof they'll do nothing.

Good luck.

Edit: Dot, nice to see your rate hounds are still on the job. Most excellent posts. Smiley: lol

Also no need to attempt to reason with paranoids. (There are no hounds and I admit I rated some of your posts down for being snippy or out of topic)

Just deal with it for now and report it to a GM every time it happens. Eventually it will be taken care of. If you go back at him you will eventually get nailed yourself.

Off topic for a sec.

E, just let it go. It was over a year ago now wasn't it? I mean come on already, just drop it. Thier is nothing to prove.

Dot, you could have easily just bitten your tongue and let it slide.

Raolan: What did I do? I am answering the OPs question. Just because someone else takes unreasonable offence with anything and everything I post should not make me 'bite my lip'. My lip has permanant scars from this issue and I am not going to walk on eggs anymore just because there are unstable people here. If you don't like it complain to the mods. Fat lot of good that will do.

I try to ignore the E person as much as possible. If she takes issue with what I post that is her problem. Not mine.

I also recommend not retaliating... Unless you make an expendable account soley for that purpose and don't mind it's deletion and / or bannage, in which case try to make them lose at least 1 level in the process and wipe a raid.

No paranoia, it's quite easy to tell when I'm getting multiple rate-downs on one post and who's doing it. Are you gonna tell me you're rating yourself up all over the place too?

I call bull. This:
Dothammer wrote:
Yeah to rate you down for posting out of topic in the general EQ forum

..is hardly ignoring me. No, it's inciting me and giving you and your crew a conjured up excuse to have a rate party. (I'm sorry, was I ignoring you?)

You're right about one thing though. I am a person.

I would do the same for any smarmy crap that does not belong in the info section, dont feel so special. You were the one who got nasty asking why I even opened the thread. So I can't look at threads in an open forum now? And woe is me if I ask a simple question like 'Does this belong here'? You were the one who was warned and banned for inciteful posting.

Bruur: I hope this illustrates why you should not retaliate.

What makes you think someone who ninja trains you in every corner of the game is going to listen to anything you say? Oh well I am doing this because I am a nutbag/prankster/griefer and I am totally misunderstood. You should not cross me again or I will ninja train you again...

This is prophetic, watch what happens to your thread.

E-person said:

Dot said in an irrelavent post:
Quote:
OOTF?
is inciting? There is no crew of mad Dot fanatics, sorry. There are no socks. You are paranoid and defensive and full of yourself. You are pretty vain to think my original reply to the OP applied to you, well if the shoe fits...

I HAVE dealt with this behavior as you can see bruur. But not just the E-person. There are several incidents of griefers in-game if you search the threads here that affected other people. I stand by original advise. Any similarity to posters real or imagined is coincidental. (The post about paranoid people was the only one aimed.)

Quote:
up excuse to have a rate party

You may THINK you know who is rating you down, and since you are so irrational there is no arguing any points. I will only say, the only posts I rated down in the past 3 days were your OP OOT post and the snippy non-info ones. I dont think your information on most EQ subjects is worth rating period.

Edit: Oh yeah I rated that idiot who posted the 3rd party software link and made the crack about Erudites down on all the posts (3) that I could. So that was the total extent of my rating for tha past 3 days.

As for you, bruur:

/report, /report and /report again.

Eventually you'll find a GM who will take care of the case. Be sure to /log everything, and try to take a screenshot when it happens again.

BBot: That was my advise from the git-go.

Quote:
And no, it doesn't matter who started it.
No, it matters who keeps continuing it. Complain to the mods if you don't like it. I have and it does no good. I don't have to put up with it or shut up about it. The only recompense provided here is the rate system. Rate me down if you don't like it, but every one of my posts is on point and not a load of vindictive sniping.

READ the freaking posts. Don't give me this 'shut up you are both causing it crap', there is one person causing it and it is not me. READ them and tell me I am somehow wrong for sticking up for myself.

This thread was started about people getting greifed in-game, and here we have a prime example of what happens when irrational people are allowed to stick around.

In EQ is it /petition /report. It actually does work sometimes even if it takes awhile.

bruur: So you see it is:

1. Pointless to reason with insane people

2. Semi-fruitless to complain to GMs

3. Absolutely counter-productive to retaliate, no matter how right you are, everyone will think you are too blame as well.

I advise again, do no quit /petion every incident. Eventually a GM who speaks and understands English will read it.
