Where can I hunt?Follow

#1 Jan 10 2007 at 6:38 AM Rating: Decent
Where is a good place for a 55 wizard to quad kite? I've grouped almost comletely to this level but the group I've leveled with is no more. I know how to quad kite and know I need a nice wide open area to do it. So I'm looking for ideas.

Haven't hunted there, but I heard that Noble's Causeway near Dranik's zone line should be ok... can anyone confirm?

Blackfeather roost has a very nice setup to quad kite the entrance has ALOT of room with no roamers to kite in. On top of that there are a few different types of mobs that are not social at all making pulling very easy. Also there are pretty good random drops there that are worth hunting down as well.

The only downside to the zone is the mobs hit HARD so if you make a mistake youll pay for it.

If you want a good zone to practice in head over to nedarias landing and kite the ghosts thier pretty easy and dont hit so hard.

Quad kiting can be pretty fun once you get used to it and with the new regen system its probably one of the best ways to get XP solo.

Noble causeway eats my 57 chanter for breakfast. Dranik's scar area by the castle ramps are probably better. The mobs are tougher then the ones at zone in. EXP is pretty good.

Never played a wizzy but I would think that the mobs in the Noble Causeway, being red to me @ 57, would be a bit tough @ level 55.

Yeah, my druid started quadding the murks in NC at about level 65.

I would try the ghosts or the turtles in Natimbis. The ghosts being the higher level of the two. You can quad the ghosts down between the end of their platform and the river.

Bloodfields might work as well the first room after zone in is big with 4 mobs in it. They hit kinda hard though...be careful.

Hmm, Blackfeather Roost seems interesting... haven't thought of that. Gonna give the zone a try with my 56 Bst, non-social mobs ftw!

Turtles/Hynids and the like, yes, works very well. watch the different run speeds though...

as to the ghosts, I tried it a few times (last time about half a year ago), but they used to have an "anti quadding sidestepping mechanism" built in. not really good for quadding.

these mobs don't path consistently - they all zig-zag around apparently at random. Creates difficulty getting AOEs to hit all of them.
(from: Bestiary )

other s8ggestions as per Graffes library: Skyfire, Tim. Deep, the Grey...

edit: grammar

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. While waiting for replies I checked my email and it said welcome to level 54 go hunt in Maiden's Eye. The Gorangas just at zone in are great for quadding! With double exp I get over a half a blue per quad and it is pretty easy.

Not true, at least anymore. The ghosts are pretty easy to get grouped and stay in thier group no sidestepping at all. The sidestepping thing may have been there 6 months ago (Never hunted them until about 3 months ago) but it is not there now.

Yeah, I never experienced any side-stepping behaviour from the ghosties???

But, as Kaj mentioned, Graffes is a great place for wizzy info. (that site still up?)

What about the raptors in Timorous Deep? I found that both my Wiz and Druid did real well here, although the named Raptors and the vicious can be a little tough. And I rarely see people in this zone. ( My 40ish shaman is killin aviaks for great exp here still.) Smiley: grin

Still meaning since this zone is no longer a hot zone.

I believe Cobalt Scar should be good for your level.

Cobalt Scar is the most excellent place for wizzies to quad. I think the mob placement was designed with quadding in mind. Smiley: grin

The mobs (at least the wyverns and drakes) were LB to me by about level 50 though I believe, and that was under the old con system.

I also wouldn't recommend Skyfire. The hp on the mobs makes kiting long slow work for very little gain.

Too many more endorsements for TSS though, around here, and I'm gonna have to give in and get the darn expansion.

Often overlooked for a mid- upper 50's are the gunthak swabbies and gunthak pirates on the island in the Northeast corner of Timorous Deep. There are no wanderers and there is a large empty beach area where you can quad-kite to your heart's content. I spent most of my 50s there, earned a couple dozen AAs, and made 10,000s of plat off the drops (lots of weapons that don't stack so have lots of empty bags for the loot). There is an occasional NPC called a gunthak marauder. Stay clear of him as he summons and hits hard and probably can not be killed by someone soloing in their 50s. Even though this is no longer a hot zone, this is still one of the best quad- (even quid- if you have enough mana) kite areas in all of Norrath!
