New Con System?Follow

#1 Jan 03 2007 at 4:40 PM Rating: Decent
I've been out of EQ for a while now. I just came back a few days ago and noticed the new conning system with gray instead of green etc. My question is this...What is the lowest level mob I can kill at 75 and still get AA exp? 60? Just need to know the lowest level that doesn't con gray I guess. thanks in advance!

Ok, time for another complaint about the new con system. why couldnt they have used a color other than grey for the non-exp con? Sure, you can tell the difference if you look very closely, but it seems to me that all the other colors were chosen to make each one easily distinguishable from the others. How about hot pink? Or black? Very irritating...

The devs stated they selected grey so that they were consistent with other MMOs where a grey con signifies no XP/trivial challenge, so if someone were to jump ship to EQ and try it out, there would be some familiarity on how to advance. I agree it is pretty close to the white color but other than conning players, I'm normally in a situation where I know if a mob is going to be level 70+ or under level 50. This issue is a little more apparent when you are at lower levels in a zone like Blightfire Moors because there is a wide range of mob levels. Overall though, I'd say the current system is much better when compared to the prior con system.

I agree - grey is very hard to see. Should be dark green, as the higher levels are already bright green.

I also think that the next 2 higher levels being yellow sould be improved. Should be:

1 level higher - yellow con

2-3 levels higher - orange con

4-5 levels higher - bright red con

6+ levels higher - dark red con

Better yet, I think it would be more convenient for us to have the ability to choose our own "con" colors for the various levels using the display (or possibly "colors") tab in the options window - that way, everyone would have their own tastes for cons set by the individual player. But, SOE will never allow that I'm afraid.

as usual, my 2 cents.

This suggestion was made by a few players during the last beta when the con system was revamped. I agreed with the majority that this would add a very unnecessary level of confusion. No matter what the con system is, it should be, and is, consistent for everyone.
