Earthshaker is a weapon that has not dropped in game for a very long time. I have not played on progression servers so do not know if it drops there, but would seem unlikely.

The AE proc on this weapon will hit ALL NPC in a radius of the wielder. The way I've heard it described, if a player is slowed their weapons proc a heckuva lot more. So let's say a monk or bard pulls a whole zone then FD or FM near the warrior with this weapon. Warrior pops AE Agro disc, shaman slows warrior, warrior hits one of those discs that lets you hit everything in front of you or riposte every blow. ~A later post mentioned that you can't proc on ripostes, and there are discs that allow you to attack every npc near you, not just the ones in front of you.

80+ NPC in front of warrior, depending on which disc is being used and whether they have Weapon Affinity AAs this weapon could proc hundreds of times very quickly, leaving a bunch of very dead NPC and a big mess. A few hundred thousand points of nuke damage will do that.

Also...

Before everyone yells for a nerf. The Earthshaker dropped in the pre-revamp Hole. So on the live servers, it does not drop anymore.

It also has some limited uses since pathing really really sucks in other zones. You may die before all the mobs arrive to you.

If you want more information on this, search Shakerpaging and Earthshaker at EQ Steel Warrior.

FYI there was an Earthshaker for sell in the bazaar over the weekend on Tribunal if anyone is looking for one. May be gone now of course.

So for every riposte that you have, the Earthshaker will have a chance to proc the AE spell. Since you are slowed the chance of a proc is higher. Your attack speed really doesn't matter, since you riposte every single attack.

you CANNOT proc off ripostes.

fortitude > furious for shaking, because fortitude is 360°, meaning you don't accidentally die. 100 LB mobs will kill you in a hurry.

Proc rate is based by your dexterity, and further enhanced by certain effects like Weapon Affinity and the worn effect: Combat Effects +1 (for example). There are also AAs you can improve your proc rate with.

Offhand weapons proc 1/2 the normal rate.

Reyla E'Xsul, Necromancer wrote:

For mainhand weapons:
305 DEX - 2.0 ppm
205 DEX - 1.5 ppm
105 DEX - 1.0 ppm

For offhand weapons:
305 DEX = 1 proc/min
205 DEX = .75 proc/min
105 DEX = .5 proc/min

As far as we can tell, all proc augments and spell procs follow the above rule for proc rates. Augment proc and spell proc rates DO STACK with a weapons innate proc rate. If you have a standard weapon, augment it and cast a spell proc on it, you will get approximately 6.0 ppm. When adding procs to weapons with innate procs, each successive proc will have an insignificantly smaller proc rate due to the way weapon procs work. Each time a weapon swing, it starts by checking for an innate proc. If the innate proc does not go off, then it checks for an augment proc. If the augment does not go off, then it checks for a spell proc. Since a weapon can only proc once per swing, as soon as 1 proc does go off, the remaining procs will not even be checked.

Courtesy of the Steel Warrior.

Your attack speed has nothing to do with your proc rate. Note that a Dexterity below 105 will proc .5 mainhand, and .25 offhand.

I feel the need to throw out this link one more time to keep it alive; INFO.

Note: The level cap has changed since this information, so I cannot confirm the proc rate for Dexterity cap increase.

Don't some weapons have a different proc rate? I seem to recall reading that somewhere...

after a good shaker pull, you will be completely lagged out and unable to do something for 4-5 minutes unless you play EQ on a supercomputer. fortituding beforehand lets you time the shaker better - so you make sure to hit every mob. fort'ing after is hard, because you literally can't move for five minutes.
