I know for a fact that my gf is getting me some EQ expansions for Christmas, so I'm gonna finally(for real this time) start playing again. Now, I have a few questions:

1. What are the hot zones for low levels to gain xp/pp(It really has been a long time)

2. Are the major buffs to ask for still the same as they were a year and a half ago?(A really long time)

3. Most heavily populated server?(used to play on Maelin but am considering playing a different one)

4. How outdated are all my Ranger's equipment?(Uluolas)

5. What are the good zones to train in for someone around lvl 30?

That and all basic questions you'd hear a returning player ask.

Sorry, but that gear is crap-tastic. If you are getting all of the expansions then spend most if not all of your time in the serpents spine expansion. It has content (AND MAJOR GEAR UPGRADES) for levels 1-75. Not sure what your hotzone is at 30, but again I'd stay in TSS zones. Servers, we have no idea how many are on what server. My wife and I don't associate with outsiders at all so I don't even know what the population of my own server is like. The major buffs for your level will be the same, temp. Clarity is no longer needed even a little bit with the out of combat regen system (if you're not familiar, briefly after 30 seconds post combat you start regenning 3% mana per tick regardless of the size of your mana pool). Hells, I'll even look up the TSS level appropriate zone for you...... ...... .............. ohh, found this
As of December 5, 2006, the hot zones are:

Level 20: Kurn's Tower
Level 25: Unrest
Level 30: Tower of Frozen Shadow
Level 35: Lower Guk
Level 40: The Hole
Level 45: Chardok
Level 50: Old Sebilis
Level 55: Grieg's End
Level 60: Cazic Thule
Level 65: Splitpaw Lair
and back to TSS.... searching......
You have been slain by alla-lag
loading please wait....
Blightfire moors is good to 45, or stone hive starts at 30 and up. stone hive might be very rough for you because the mobs hit hard and faster than the mobs you were fighting when you left but you're still geared the same. Welcome back and good journeys

I'm sure you could get some MAJOR upgrades with less then 5k, assuming you still have that much in the bank. Srakeats pretty much hit the important stuff. Stay in TSS as much as you can for the low-mid levels, since you've probably explored a lot of the old world already. TSS has some great quests with great rewards (kill a few mid 20's level mobs and get a weight reduction bag for instance). Just keep in mind that the power-curve of the mobs in TSS grows VERY quickly. My 55 necro is soloing mobs in Blackfeather Roost. The yellow cons hit her for close to 500 and the DB cons hit for around 300.

Kunark, home of the scaley lizards. I'm pretty sure all the hotzones have been from Kunark. While I'm back on the subject, isn't Kurn's a little low for 20-25?

Tower of Frozen Shadow is Velius. Lower Guk is original. Grieg's is PoP. Cazic and Splitpaw are original.

20 is definately low for Kurns by today's standards. You'd do really well there in the teens though.
