Yes there will be items and a fun suprise in each zone.

There were a number of changes that I put in place in Paw to try to make it a bit more crowd friendly. I'd invite you to check it out along with the new itemization when they go live.

Call for Help will not be present in these zones. A new mechanic will be used here.

Very happy to see Grieg's is back as a HZ; it really helped get through the grind of the early to mid 50's, and there was always a group to get into. Not sure how the 3 expansions since then will affect group availability though.

Oh, and Yay! for Unrest

PoK Erudin Stone to Tox forest to paneel to the hole should be easy to get to.
Problem is you need a rogue/bard to open it fro you if do not have key, also might still be a way for small races to squeeze by w/o key, not sure. If anyone ever needs the hole opened on Xegony will gladly do so on my main Mcsean, if not in group, and since he is a rogue, that is often. I zone fast so its no big deal just a few mins out of my time.

So was I, the devs said on the EQlive boards that the zones they are recycling have not been hotzones during the new added items hot zones phases, and also that they want to choose hotzones that have a wide level range of content to utilize.

Thanks fhrugby. I usually try and find a shrink from a druid/shammy and can get through with that.

Yeah you can shrink and swim through the hole on the right side of the door.

You can buy shrink potions if you don't want to find someone to shrink you.

Can Druids shrink?

To get the hole key is easy as pie and takes less than an hour if your 50+. All you have to do is go to erudin and kill the guards inside, these guys give MASSIVE heretic faction and are very easy to kill. It dont take long at all to get your faction up to go into paineel.

If your worried about having bad faction in erudin as soon as you get what you need do the opposite, Kill the guards in paineel and just as quick your faction will be good in erudin.

Hope this helps, Its always worked like a charm for me.

No, druids cannot shrink. Beastlords and shammies can.

Last time I checked TOFS was a velious zone.
But it was a hot zone last year IIRC so maybe mandie wanted a new velious hot zone.

You can also get into the Hole with wolfform, so druids and rangers can do that. Once you get on the other side of the rock, just cast SoW since the wolfform will poof when you actually zone into the hole.

I can't remember how my bard got his hole key. Of course he can pick the lock, but for some reason, at some time, I ended up getting him the key, somehow. I did have the Erudie illusion mask for a while so maybe I just went in that way and got it (he's agnostic)... can't remember though.

I think Mandie was hoping for more Velious zones, but as stated, there are not a whole lot of zones lower than TOFS for low levels.

Seems to me these new zones are bit re-treaded. Most have been hot before. Does Kurns really need hot-zone status? Doesn't it have a large ZEM as it is? Or is it even higher now? lol just what you need to power through the teens :)

All of the hot zones now are Kunark, so I was thinking the new ones would all be Velious. But it is true, there are not any Velious zones for the 1-25 crowd. Oh well, no biggie.

newbie question here... what exactly makes a hot zone so much different than a normal one? besides the items that come up

Hotzones give you more exp then usual.

Really at lvl 25 as a group you could hunt iceclad, but yea it was designed pretty much for 30+. Actually not a days a twinked/buffed group of lvl 20ish could probably handle iceclad.

btw little tip for getting the hot key, simply shroud as a goblin rogue, sneak into Paniel, and go and buy yourself one, just sneak up behind the seller nd they will trade with you like normal, then unshroud and collect key from your shroud bank. buh-bum! Hole key for whatever race you are.

The old Hot zones were mostly large outdoor zones. I think changing all of them to smaller indoor zones with narrow passageways will result in train city. If you went to Veksar while it was a HZ, you know what I mean. I got trained there more times in one day there then in the previous 2 years total.
I hope I am wrong about this. But even if I am...kiting will be a challenge in ALL of these zones.
See you all at the zoneline.

THese new hot zones include a doppleganger/ shapeshifter mob. This mob almost always has dropped (5 out of 5) an Augmentation and some other magical item. The augs are ok for the level range.

SO does the new Hotzone exp bonus go ontop of previous ones?? unrest has a
100+%(not shure on exact amount) natrually and the addition of hot zone bonuses would eb even better, anyone know?

I can confirm that the shapeshifter mobs seem to have a 100% aug drop rate as well. One quick/possible way for a confused group member to tell a difference between the shapeshifter and the toon it's mirroring is that the shapeshifter will always display the helm graphic, even if the actual player is not displaying the helm.
