Missing Maps Fix ***please sticky****Follow

ok, i and many other players have bug where certain maps are missing, through trial and error i have found way to fix it

1. zone into a connected zone <but not the zone of the map that is missing>

Example: Butcherblock Mountains is missing, so zone into greater faydark and make sure your map window is closed!!

2. alt-tab outta eq and go to mapfiend.net now, delete all butcheblock files in your everquest map directory.

3. download the 3 BB mountains files, after download make sure each file is there by opening it up and viewing the text in notepad. Save before exiting each file.

4. alt-tab back into EQ and zone back into butcherblock. DO NOT OPEN UP MAP WINDOW UNTIL ZONING BACK INTO THE MISSING ZONE!! THIS WILL DELETE THE MAP FILE'S CONTENTS

5. open your map window up and you should see the map now.

Same message as in the other thread: Log off EQ. Go to mapfiend.com. Download all maps, unzip them into your maps folder in the EQ directory, say 'Yes to ALL' to have all the existing maps overwritten.

That should take you <5 minutes.

Now start up EQ, and you'll have maps for every zone in the game, both the zones where SoE originally gave you a map and every other zone where players have made maps for us lazy bastiges to use for free.

Shouldnt really have your game on and open and being played if your going to mess with the contents in its directory... one messed up move and you can be saying "hello gm help me get my <whatever> corrupted files fixed"

they are map.txt files, not game files, and if you replace a file with a bad version the game will not run regardless if it is on or not, however the only files you are replacing are all ready blank text files, dont matter if you loose them.

Before you hit PLAY on your sign in screen go to Advanced on far right. When the new screen pops upcheck all boxes and do complete files check. This helped me. Dont download Zipped files into EQ files. Unzip first then transfer to map.txt files. Hope this helped some. OH dont have EQ running and tab back to windows.
