Looking for an old friend (or some new ones)Follow

hey guys, i'm not new to the game but i havent played it in quite some time and am starting fresh. If anyone on this forum happens to have/have had a character named Arranwood(? on spelling) or Elderberry PLEASE pm me.

also, anyone else wanting to help me out please send me a pm. I havent played in over a year now so i'm slightly unfamiliar with the game again. That and the 10 expansions is a few more than the 5 i had before. I purchased Everquest Titanium edition recently and am not completely sure what character i should make as my first for the item bonus that has been rumored. I had a ranger before, forgot the level, but it was in decent shape. Also had a lvl 20-30 magician. Loved em both but i'm not sure what i want to make now.

thank you guys, and see you soon.

Mike

Wizzards seem to be complaining the least about themselves atm.

ok, what would you guys suggest as a good solo character or mostly solo character? and what about a money maker?

Well, everyone will argue the points but I'll start.

Druids - once they get snare, and then root, they are good soloers. But at high end they are stuck root roting after about level 65.

Necros - can always solo, great DoT's, killer pet and FD

Beasts - Can solo alot from what I hear, pet, good dps, heals

Wiz - great high end soloers

Shm - good pet, good heals, solid overall. Great buffs. But everyone will want you to join them. Guilds will need you.

Cleric - ok, this one is..... j/k

I'm sure others will add info here as well.

Mage -- Best pet in the game for tanking purposes with loads of utility. An overlooked class, but very fun to play if you take the time to learn the class.

beasts CAN solo, but not efficiently enough to consider soloing as a viable leveling path after 40 or so. With the out of combat system it makes everyone able to solo to a point because you'll burn all mana in 1-2 fights then med for 3 minutes as opposed to 10 or so.

I would say look in the class forums, but those are mostly littered with stupid questions like "I've got 50 gazillion copper peices, how should I twink my level one to make level 2 in 23 seconds?" See the Underrated in groups poll, you'll see that most classes that are good at soloing don't get invited to groups often. This becomes a problem when you get higher in level and the gear you want doesn't drop off of mobs that you can root rot or run in circles.

so a class such as shaman would be good for solo because of its abilities, but is good in groups as well?

A couple that haven't been mentioned.

Enchanter - would take some skill, but with their charm ability can solo pretty effectively. Also they're highly sought after for groups.

Bard - Again, skill being the key but probably the most efficient soloer for non-summoning mobs. They have the most utility of any class and can tons to groups, though many putting groups together won't recognize this.

...in any case play whatever you find fun. Good luck:)

The necromancer is, of course, hands down best choice for the anti-social EQ player. Best consistent soloer throughout all levels, great farmer/moneymaker and, if your reputation holds up, a huge asset to any group.

If you plan on soloing as a shaman and don't mind evil toons, a shammy who worships Innoruuk can get a clicky snare item.

one (hopefully) final question... is the shaman as good of a money maker as the necro?

As one who has a 61 shaman, The best money maker I have is my bazaar mule. Buy low sell high! Farm those spiderling silks!

Between the two classes,(didnt I answer this elswhere tonight?), You can make some tradeskill money off making potions as a shaman. You can make other money, as deballic said, from the necro farming items for sale.

I would have to disagree with Yeph... sorry bro/gal =). I am a lvl 68 BL and soloed from lvl 1-68. It may go slower than a mage or a necro.. ( not sure as I havent really played them =) .. ) but I love my class.. I am 68 and only have 47 AA's but can solo any place that www.beastlords.org says a lvl 68 can solo. Grant it it may be slower than most classes but I am an hour into 68 and 24% into lvl 68 right now and love my class. I feel you get the best of most (class's ?) worlds... dps, cleric, OT , crowd control and more all in one. Grant it .. it may be slower than a mage or necro ( I cant say as I have never really played them), but I love the versatility I have found within myself to lvl a toon to almost 70. Like I said.. mage and necro may be faster.. and may be ), but damn if I dont have a ton of fun with my beast. I can also say on my server.. saryrn... I get tons of tells to join groups when I am soloing or afk. Honestley 3-4 a night ( in my world thats tons ), but I enjoy trying to "beat" EQ solo!

I can say.. in my guild I get more group requests than the mages or necrros in my guild.

I would say BL as far as solo/group versatility. Might be a good start for you.

Good luck in whatever you choose though =)

BL FTW =)
