Comeing back but have some ?'s.Follow

Well I stared EQ back in the winter of 'O2 played off and on for a couple of years. Loved it, but went to different mmos "FFXI, WoW" atm im playing WoW...it was fun at first but after getting rank 14 and T2 gear with 2 toons its gotten boring. So i'm thinking about comeing back to EQ (until Vanguard comes out).

And from trolling the forums here ive read that the regen system is changed and that lvling isnt half as long as it was before? I know that my old account is gonna be gone so im gonna have to start from nothing again, my questions are these.

First: Are there still active servers with large populations around?

Second: Is the regen system changed, one thing i didnt miss was meding for what seemed like hours just to kill 1 mob.

Third: I read on here that KEI is going for 200pp O.O! back when i played it was no more then 30pp. Has the loot drops "coin drops" been improved with the new expansions (stopped playing back when OoW came out). Or has the economy been over run with PP buyers/sellers?

Thats about it, any info would be great. I know im prolly gonna get a bunch of links to other threads but thats fine =).

Depends really. The populations aren't anything like they used to be, but it's still usually pretty decent, at least on Povar. I hear that the combine servers have a relatively decent low end population too.

Second: Is the regen system changed, one thing i didnt miss was meding for what seemed like hours just to kill 1 mob.

Yes. You now have 4 "states" you can be in. While "in combat" state your regen (mana, hp and endurance) all react the exact same way as they used to. When you lose aggro (mob dies, you zone, whatever) you go to a countdown state. Usually 30 seconds after going into the countdown state (sometimes up to 5 minutes, depends on the last mob you had aggro with) you'll go into the "out of combat" state which allows you highly accelerated regen. You can go from 0 mana to 100% mana in less then 3 minutes, even if you have 15K mana. The acceleration is a percentage based on your total so that it should take 2-3 minutes to go from 0 to full, regardless of the total you have.

Third: I read on here that KEI is going for 200pp O.O! back when i played it was no more then 30pp. Has the loot drops "coin drops" been improved with the new expansions (stopped playing back when OoW came out). Or has the economy been over run with PP buyers/sellers?

Exagerration mostly I think. Sure, some people will pay that when they're desperate, but that's probably not the norm. The economy still seems pretty much in check. Things always spike right after a expansion release ( especially one that includes a new race or class). Things are settling down now though. The single group drops since PoR release have been really nice though. Oh, and welcome back! ::grin::

Right on thanks for the info. The new regen system sounds uber compared to the old school days. I take it Povar is 'the' server to be on or the most popular? I think the population was near 450k when i started playing i hear its down to near 300k so theres still grps to be had just want to know the most populated servers so i dont roll on one thats empty lol. Also expansion wise, what are the 'need to have' expansions? I hear TSS is going to be a must have, new race hella lots of new zones to lvl in. ATM I have Classic, RoK, SoL, SoV, PoP, LoDN, OoW. Never picked up GoD or LoY sadly. Well thanks again, still D/L the patches 60+ hours of em (dial up speed) /sigh.

for populated servers, try stromm, povar, maelin, or one of the progression servers.

Titanium edition of EQ is $20 and has all of the expansions except PoR and TSS (the last two).

A number of the regulars here at Allah's play on Povar, that is why you here it mentioned a lot. Like Malificio said, Stromm and Maelin also have pretty decent populations. I have noticed a number of people coming back from the progression servers, so I am not sure how they are holding up for numbers.

While the total numbers are down, they did do a server merge, and that has really helped. Maelin has over 300 bazaar mules each night, and there are regularly well over 100 people in POK. Twice this week I have heard people in there advertising the formation of new guilds, no level restrictions.

Are you sure you can't get your old characters back? I seem to remember that SOE keeps old characters out there for quite some time. You may want to check, just to make sure.

Welcome back !

Mr wookie is right, unless you actually deleted your old toons (not just canceled the account) or they were below level 10, they should still be there. Now, if you don't remember the information to reacquire your account if you forgot it (like the account name and stuff), that's a different issue.

Yep just got it earlier...10 expansions for $19.17 wth =P. Also to those that have retrived their old accounts, i emailed Sony and gave em info for my station name and pw (the email and dob thing) i retrived my station name and pw, brought back memories lol. But everytime i enter it at the eqstation site i keep getting a "Your station name and password not found" thing. But i know that the one the sent me are right. I'm guessing that its been too long and its gone now?
