I'm curious about the solo power of the 3 classes I listed in the title, Shaman, Beastlord, and Necromancer.

I know they all offer different playstyles, and they all appeal to me about the same. What is the differance in solo power in the following categorys:

-Exp/AAexp 1-65+
-Big summoning named mobs (hard hitters, mainly higher levels)
-Farming tradeskill/crafting/vendor items (from greens to dark blues)

Any information from anyone who has experience with these classes would be appreciated.

My magelo is below. I am currently playing a level 67 Necromancer as my main.

"If it does not summon, I can solo it"

Any level mob.

I currently kite the level 75 Elder Mammoths in Icefall for a littel more than 1 yellow of AAxp per kill.

So, to answer your question:

-Exp/AAexp 1-65 = Necromancer
-Big Summoning named mobs = Beastlord
-Farming = Magician (Yes, Magician because all you do is click on 25 mobs and click the /pet attack button and the pet will kill them all in turn.)

Bsts are capable soloers but not near as fast as shammy and necros especialy with the new regen.

From experience i will say BSTs are probably the easiest class to play you can almost play one in your sleep. But thier soloing is nowhere near that of the other 2.

as far as shammy vs necro its really a toss up, like the other guy says "if it dont summon i can solo it" thats pretty true for necros. But with shammys if it does summon you can probably tank it and kill it anyway.

Its more a personal preferance try them all and level to 30 or so that will give you a good idea.

The biggest difference between the 3 is that if you want a group a shaman will get picked over the rest easily making life even easier if you get bored of soloing.

I Have err had a 300aa+ shammy and necro. Necros are by far the best solo grind class. Shammies are nice but level 60+ mob xp and the huge differential between necro and shammy dps becomes apparent.

As far I can tell you,is that by creating a char of each and lvl it up to lvl30 won't help a bit.Mostly because Shamans suck at soloing until lvl40 or so,and they still do at those levels.

It wasn't until I reached lvl53 or so when I got turgur's slow that I could solo better. And now, with the newest pet (True spirit lvl61 spell) wich is lvl58,I can solo most of my epic quest stuff all by myself.

Shaman's are good at soloing, but at later levels, while necros and BSTs are good all levels.

Necros really are easy to solo and some mobs that summon we can solo but its all about DPS in those cases and liberal use of lifetap.

Shamans are fun and at high end great at killing, they still cant kill as fast as the necro for experience, but they can take out harder targets thanks to slow.

As for farming if its low stuff necro pet is just as good as mage pet just click mob, pet kills and you try like mad to just keep up with looting.

Mages really got hosed with the kill of pet pull. They can still solo but they really have no way of CC, no root, FD, snare etc, sure in some areas it dont matter.

Hope that helps.

have to agree, the Necro is the king of solo of the 3 classes you listed. as for summoning mobs, just dont mess with them if you can avoid it, but if you are going after them for what ever reason take a group, or go with a shammy.

for xp/aa grinds necro is best in that list.
fighting summoning mobs, necro can do this, but a shammy will do it better
farming tradeskill, none of them are great at that, but a necro or BL will have the advantage there with their pet... /pet kill sit and wait.

I have to add m vote to the Necro list, even though I haven't played the other classes any further than the 20s. My necro, on the other hand, grinds exp/AAs the way other people farm greens (at 66).

"If you can snare it, you can kite it" is my mantra. Summoners are doable with lifetaps. Hell, even if the mob isn't snareable you can still kite it, given enough room and runspeed.
I've heard that shamen may be better at killing single large targets, but rely on landing slow.

As far as aaxp/exp goes, necros are the ones to use. However, on big summoning named mobs, I always prefer to bust out my shaman. If I can keep myself alive for the fight, my pet can kill slowly from behind, and my splurt damage AA's ( Spirit call, rabid bear, etc.) can help in that process. Finally, for farming -- the beastlord wins this one. With the quick DPS output on their pet without having to cast much they can take out the small ones quite efficiently.
