Game Manual?Follow

#1 Oct 14 2006 at 12:14 PM Rating: Decent

Hi All
last Saturday I got my Titanium Edition of EQ and after having to
contact the Tecs and finding out I needed to download DX 9 I finally managed
to start this game. :-)
My question right now is did Any edition inc the original release contain
a Manual/start up booklet to help get you going in the game, only my copy
contained only a singled sided page to install the game and another one
telling you about the Sony Licence!
I have had FF X1 and WOW they both included a booklet to let you know about
keyboard usage etc but EQ Nothing, what gives?
I even bought (Cheaply) through ebay UK the original release of EQ with "Ruins Of Kunark" just to hopefully get this elusive booket but when I opened it - nothing. :-(
I know that online you have the options and what key does what but surely Sony
must have written a booklet, please Guys does one exist or not?
Please respond if you don`t mind, I'd really appreciate some help.
Peace
Andrew.

If I'm not mistaken PoP came with a book that had instructions and tales of the gods.

The earlier releases, original through PoP I think did have a manual. Then they quit printing any up. If you look in your EQ directory though you'll probably find a PDF file titled EQ_Manual.pdf or something like that. However you really don't need it. Start in the tutorial and go through everything slowely and you'll learn most of what you need to know. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions in game. Most people are nice and if you tell them you are new they'll be glad to help.

Greetings :)

learning to play the game will take some time (and nobody out there knows everything, just too much, believe me).

as said before, ye better simply start playing, and then get complimentary infos from the EQ related websites like alla here.

The tutorial is amazing compared to what we used to go through. Even the original manuals were vague at best. Like others have said, go through the tutorial slowly and you'll learn a lot of what you need to know. Look through these forums and you'll learn some finer details, particularly in the class related forums. Ask others of your class for some class specific websites and you'll get even finer details.

Pardon my Ignorance but what do you mean by "PoP"?
What I was really after was reading and finding out about using the keyboard
for the game. I saw from the files online in the game that there are a Ton of
keys to use, this is going to take some getting used to doing.
I wanted to be able to look at what is writen correponding to what keys I use
when I am moving my Character or doing actions at the time, do you know what I mean Guys?
I have looked through all 5 CDs that the Titanium edition came with and there is nothing in Adobe, another strange thing is that in the page that came with the single disc version that I got this week hoping that it would have a manual, it said...

On Line Manual

The instruction manual can be found on the CD-ROM. To view these files, double click on the "My Computer" icon on your PC and select the CD-ROM Drive, Click
on the right mouse button and select "Open"
Double click on the folder called Extras or Manual to find the manual doucument

I have checked the files on the disc and PDF document is not on there.
Please Guys am I going Mad or missing something here?
Peace
Andrew.

PoP - the expansion "Planes of Power"

as to the keys setup, in case you don't find it in a doc per see, best then to go ingame to the options menu (ALT+O), then go to the "Keys" TAB.

even if you find an old pdf with the key settings, it wouldn't be accurate anymore, as they (SOE) added more and more hotkeys for several functions.

again, just play, and then you learn what is what :)

Having played for well over 2 years, I will admit their is still a lot I don't know about the game.

Just go throught the tutorial, really go through it. The tut should give you enough info to get through the game without too much trouble.

If/when someone asks you to do something you don't know about, simply tell them you are new to the game and don't know how to do that. Most people remember their days as a newb and are willing to help if you simply ask. DO NOT play it off like you know what your doing when you don't, it will show. I have booted plenty of people from groups because they refuse to ask questions and keep ******** up. I would much rather spend 5 minutes answering questions then spending 10 - 15 minutes getting the group back up time and time again because someone won't ask for help.

Most servers have the "were a guild so join us" guilds. Many of these guilds are just a bunch of people guilded together with no major goals, this is the best place to learn. Once you feel comfortable enough to go out on your own, find a guild that has the same goals that you go, it will make the game much more enjoyable.

It will also be useful to turn on your help/tips file.
Try going to alt o. or going into tutorial, create a new toon if you need to.

oh when your in a big fight with a group of buddies. and your about to die just type /q and you'll quit fighting and can sit out for a few minutes. or you can type /exit to exit the zone your in.

LOL just kidding don't ever use those commands, unless you want to exit the game quickly. but if your in a fight your chaacter will stay in the game for 30 secs and can still die

/ooc best command to ask for help from players in same zone
/general or /1 normaly to ask for help in the whole game

i think there's a manual in your directory too after the install.

easiest way i can imagine to learn what keys do what is to open up options, go to keys, and look through there. It is a list of every key and command afileated with it, and you can change them there too
