Eh, take 'em or leave 'em. Personally, I would have expected someone "touched with dragon blood" to have a bit more meat on their bones, but I guess it was easier to just modify the sand elves from the LDON adventures (like anyone goes there anymore, especially after the spells have become research-able).

I think in any other game they'd fit in. Something about them just doesn't seem right though, can't quite put my finger on it, they just don't have an EQ feel about them. Nice models though they are, I can't help but feel a little dissappointed...

My origional feeling about the Drakkin was admitedly mixed, dragon touched humans...cool, able to be monks....sweet, screen shots of crack addict sand elves....not so good. Thankfully I decided to make a Drakkin anyway just to see how I liked them. After a LOT of experimenting on features, sex, and armor models I ended up making a female drakkin monk. I've had a lot of fun playing, the new animations are downright funny (not to mention its nice to see somebody LOOK like they died when they feign death lol). I have to agree with earlier posts though that the female models do look better overall than the male models, and not being able to dye armor is frankly annoying (would be nice to see the origional color on the black pantherskin gear instead of plain brown leather lol). can't wait till I get high enough to start grouping with my guild again lol. All in all I think Sony did a decent job, not the best they could have done to be sure, but not bad considering how fast they rushed this expansion through.

Seems that very few people like the new Drakkin look. I am no different. I spent about 2 million PP in gear for a baby bard Drakkin....then i saw how terrible they looked then i quit EQ. about 6 hours later I came back to EQ cause im addicted and forced myself to like the Drakkin. Im sure very soon there will be a patch that allows you to change the color of your armor.
To be truthfull all i really wanted from the drakkin was a PLATE look. another let down :(.......again ill "Deal with it".

I was expecting something along the lines of the Dragorn look.

Frogloks, Iksar, Vah Shir.... those are unique.
These Drakkin are just painted humans.

I'm VERY impressed with the new expansion and all the available quests, but not
with the look of the Drakkin.

I have 4 Drakkins already. Necro,Ench,Bard, and Ranger. the only thing i dont like really is the fact that every other Drakkin runnin around look a like! I like the details on the armors....dragon across the helm, etc. but to me they are all identical. i may not be the only one but to be able to at least tint or highlight or change some aspect of the armors would be great!

My biggest fear is that I woukd go to a bar, get drunk, and wake up with one of these creatures.....they look like they have rickets, or are suffering from anorexia or are bulemic. when sitting down, they look like an 80 year old man sitting down. I kept waiting for my toon to clutch his chest and drop dead. I have no interest in this race at this time. My mind coukld change....if I get drunk and play this game.

The New Drakkins looks are ok to me. I had issue with the way they ran before they were nerfed and their run corrected. It looked like they were trying to run and hold a quarter between their butt cheeks without letting it fall out at first. The newbie Drakkin's appearance would be what I believe to be similar to Vetch in Mercedes Lackey's series of books Joust, Alta and Sanctuary. The later or older toons armor would seem to follow along the the same lines. Over all, good job on finding a new mod that is different and interesting and armor as well. Though my only complaint is that they used the same design engine they used to make the new mods for the horse. I don't like the new horse and and the way the Drakkin turns is also the same as the horse; real enough for the horse but not a humanoid. Obviously they can turn out new mods faster using this new design tech but they sacrificed fine detal in favor of a more realistic movement. I would not be saddened to see the old Luclin Mods go the way of the Dodo but I'd not sacrifice the fine detail of the mod structure and would like to see them be true to the historic appearance of Plate, Chain ect... for the different races. Also I'd like to see more realism in movement, no toon in the game moves with more realism than say a Monk. If they would work on that and change the old Stand exposed and hack scheme to something more real it would make me happy with them.

How about some new trade skills too like Tatooing, Hair and make up design & maybe piercing for jewelry crafters with like say a bone in the nose for Trolls, a snout ring graphic for Ogres or visible earring for Human, Barbs, or Dwarfs LOL (just wishfull thinking).

Their overall look as creatures would be excellent if they were classified as undead and had at least some (overall) undead abilities to go with it!

Otherwise, they do look like sick, tired live humans into ritualistic tattooing . . . and as someone above said, should have been put into the ground a week ago, or as I would say, given a long, peaceful vacation in a sanatorium to recover =-D

Given what they are, the armour and such looks great for the most part.

After going through with my cleric Drakkin I have to say that I see no change other then I grown a few feet (though I was told it is a bug) My breath weapon is stronger, an that is about it, I feel that the abiltie to not be able to dye armor is a must cause I know a few guilds that use the armor dying for guild colors. The animations are Ok, I like how mine looks on horseback an when I unfortantly die, an the dance is cool, but when I swing my hammer it looks like everything is put into the swing and makes me look labor at the swing, bash I think is the best animation over the Pulp fiction dance.

I voted 3. Would have given 5 except for the horrible armor my poor rogue seems stuck with. She has green hair, face markings and tatoos. Her armor in-game (its different on the character select screen) is an uneven blue and red. If she had a choice she wouldnt be caught dead with red leggings. Yuck!

I never wanted to dye the armor of my other characters...but here.. please, SOE, on bended knees!

Parts of their look is appealing, other part, notsomuch...

...I find the tattoos kind of bland and unimpressive, i believe somewhat scaly skin patterns would have had a much more striking look, be it patches of scales or sporadic scales blending in and out of normal human skin all over their body or something else along those lines...

...and something of a scalier type look for the body would match well with the faces and the "horns"...

...and yeah, the male drakkins needed a bigger variety of look rather than just the metrosexual/druggie look, some faces of more variety along with those would have been nice, some stronger/gruffer type face outlays and such...

I gave it a 3. Some of them look pretty cool, but I hate the way they sit down...would have been a 4 if they didn't sit down like an 80 year old person lol.

I simply can't see why so many people think so good about them.
This gotta be the worst new race that have been introduced yet.
The graphics is dull, and its just a rip off a woodelf basically.

I think it just shows that the dev. team must have been shrinked to
a fraction of what it used to be.

I havn't seen anything real new in this expansion yet, beside a few zones
that looks "interesting", but its definetly not the money worth that their charging

Very disapointing.

At least back in the Kunark days, and LoY we got something for our money.
They could just have called them Half-Wood Elves This adds nothing new to the game. Playing an Iksar or Froggie was at least both a whole new character design.

This smells really much of automated character design. It sure has nothing whatso ever human design talent in it.

I think the Plate Armor on my Drakkin Warrior looks awesome, much better then on the old race models. Grats Sony for the great design.

I think the thing we need to remember here is this. Most of the people that are responding to this thread have made a Drakkin. Whether or not we like or dislike the new race is futile because we all are still playing the game and SOE is still making money from it. I know that 99% of us originally thought when we heard that there was going to be a new race of a human crossed with a dragon, that it would look like a dragon. In reality, it's a human TOUCHED with dragon blood. Therefore it takes on the characteristics of a dragon and not a total transformation. I'll be the first to say I was dissapointed that you couldn't dye the armor. I have found ways though to get colored gear on my necro though. The castor's robes have color naturally. I guess the argument could be that the tatoos are colored the color of your dragon, so maybe in SOE's eyes, you are different. I'm not going to stand here and say with certainity that that's what Sony did, but just a thought. I do have to say that with the new expansion, the quests make a refreshing way to get level's without the pain staking task of watching your exp bar constantly IMHO. Those that don't like quests aren't required to do them. I am disapointed though to learn that the armor doesn't change the color of your dragon father/mother or that the horns don't grow as you level. We all had lots of thoughts as to what Sony had in mind with the new race. This is where rumors begin. Each race in this game has its pro's and con's. The question and ultimate answer is what works for you: the player. We need to remember that Sony is not going to personalize each toon to satisfy everyone because no one is ever going to be totally satisfied. This is a game that we play for entertainment. The bottem line is this, yes we pay to play, but if someone is that unhappy with the game, stop paying for it. This game brings people from all walks of life, all ages and from all countries. Let's just enjoy the game in whatever capicity we can.
