Drakkin BreathFollow

#1 Sep 22 2006 at 4:33 AM Rating: Decent
I have been searching for a while now but I cannot seem to find the quest Drakkins get for thier innate breath attack. Anyone know the name of the quest or how to get started on this thing? Thanks in advance for any help =)

It starts with the Council quest. Once you get in good enough with your chosen Dragon, then they allow you to talk to it. After that the Dragon ask you to kill the Hollow Widow and loot it's venom sac. Then return the sac to your chosen dragon and the ability pops up under your general aa window.

I just got my "Breath of Osh'Vir" (I am descended from the blue dragons) all of 2 minutes ago :) Very easy quest, and you can get the very first stage of the Breath Weapon at lvl 5.

The quest starts with talking to Mystrana and following her quests until they lead you to the Council Members. She wants you to see Librarian Hemfar about the city Charter. He asks you to get a new copy from upstairs, which is just up the ramp beside him. Get the new Charter by clicking the bookshelf next to Library Assistant Ginute. Go back to Mystrana.

She then sends you for a book in Gekkdar's Haunt, on the top level of the city. The blurb about a "hidden room" is bull. The room is on the left as you enter, and the open book is in plain sight on top of a crate! She then tells you to see the Council of Six, which is the people in the same room as Mystrana. NOT the Dragons :)

IMPORTANT: Thinking ahead, I spoke to Councillor Reakash - she is a blue dragon descendant, as am I. I would think it likely you will have to look up the Councillor of the same dragon race you are, to do quests. I wouldn't know, for sure.

WHAT FOLLOWS IS THE QUEST FOR "BLUE" DRAKKIN TYPES. CHECK YOUR SPECIFIC COUNCILLOR BEFORE STARTING.

Reakash wanted me to see Tailor Meikolu (in the room with the other Tailors) and make a Banner. He gives you all the items you need AND the container to combine them to get a banner. This is given to the Tailor, and he attaches it to a pole or some such, and you get this new form of banner back. Give it to Reakash.

Next, we have the Serenity Quest. See Merchant Wyn'las, open the trading window and get a free Windchime and Jar. The Jar is held on the cursor under one of the waterfalls (I used one of the ones in the newbie yard) which fills it with mist. Then I went up to the Dragon area, where there's a pond. On the bottm of the pond are blue bottles which are the Pond Samples you need for Reakash. Simply give the mist-filled jar, the windchime and the pond sample to Reakash.

Finally, she sends you to talk to Osh'Vir, the blue dragon, and my racial lord. he wants the "Hollows Widow Poison Sac" which drops in the newbie yard, where the pumas and little drakes are. NOTE: I had picked this up a long time ago - and despite warnings to the contrary (such as: "aha, if you get it before the quest it's no use. you have to delete it") it WAS ok to hand in.

I duly did so and, there was my Breath Ability in the Generic AA Window. I see it can be increased in power 15 times, once every 5 levels. Osh'vir is sending me on another quest to get a Charbone skull, so that looks very promising, especially given the quest is called "Strengthening the Blood."

I am now off to kill mobs with my minty-fresh breath :))

One thing to note for these quests:

I killed Plaguebringer before I got the quest and had his head stashed in the bank. When I got the quest, I thought, oh well, better destroy the one in the bank so I can loot one for the quest. Turns out, as soon as you have the item on your cursor you get credit. Once I picked up the head, I could then proceed to do the turn in and get my upgrade.

Yes, I mentioned something similar regarding the Poison Sac. I have the Skull already, and I am going for the Dragoneater as well now. Like you, I always fight for the drop, albeit with friends if it's beyond me. I am not 100% certain that you can pick up an item that's been left to rot to do the quests, but I really hope that you can't - that would be too easy I think.

So far all you need is the head - the tasks don't require you to be the one that kills the named. So someone could just loot an item left to rot.

Ahhh. Oh well, I may be old-fashioned, but I think being able to pick up rotting items to hand in for a quest spoils it, somehow. Oh well.

I'm up to #9 and struggling - anyone done Refugiu yet?

Out of curiosity (I finally got Duskfall with myself, a 31 cleric, and my partner, a 41 Shadowknight). It wasn't hard, when I got my new healing spell, Superior Healing, and I have my Improved Healing II item on, but when we had tried Duskfall earlier, he gave us nothing but trouble, hitting an average of 200 damage per hit, and fairly fast, too.

So what were your strategies?

I soloed Duskfall around level 32 with ranger. Ended up kiting him. Tried to go toe-to-toe but it was apparent that wasn't going to work.

I just soloed Duskfall on my 51 beastlord, not much of a fight, but max hit on me was around 140.....dropped a head, a bow, a parchment, and somethings else but i forget

Refugio - spawns in NW corner of the map due east of the zonein to the Roost
Nestor is after him and pops a bit due south of the NE corner of the map near mountainous area of centaur camp.

Drakkin Ranger up to #9. Refugio was no match for one 66 druid (as you might expect), root rotted and nuked dead in about 2 minutes.

We did kill the queen with a group of 4 people (55-67), but I have not seen #11 yet.

I killed the stoopid nymphs for about 4 hours (clearing entire pool including Queen) and no spawn. Any additional ideas how to get #11 spawned?
