Some of you may remember my previous posts concerning the mp3s of EverQuest, the original post and part II for PoR release.

The Serpent's Spine is approaching, and SOE is releasing the files for download! So here they are, the first mp3s of the new expansion:

Released on Sept. 5th, 2006:
  • Ashengate.mp3 - lots of strings and trumpets, a slow hymn
  • CrescentReach.mp3 - a happy little melody, sounds like home
  • DirewindCliffs.mp3 – sounds mysterious and a little dangerous
  • Frostcrypt.mp3 – begins and ends as a baroque-like slow dance
  • IcefallGlacier.mp3 – a little c-c-c-creepy and c-c-c-cold
  • VergalidMines.mp3 – drums/percussion and strings, reminds me of another EQ song…

Released on Sept. 7th, 2006:
  • BlackFeatherRoost.mp3 – one repeating theme, played mostly by flutes
  • BlightfireMoors.mp3 – not really a song, rather a collection of noises
  • GorukarMesa.mp3 – nice slow song with strings and clarinets

Will post again when I see new ones…

The only music I have really cared for from eq1 (at leastsince the mp3 music entered the game) was some of the POP music. The POP music was not made by SOE, they paid some other company to compose them. I remember a long time ago you could see the company who made them when you played the mp3's, however anybody noticed awhile back they had us re-download the mp3's for POP? They basicalyl took that companies name out of them.

Most of it since then has been rather dull. Kodtaz however reminds me of somethign you would expect to hear on a older star trek movie.

Some more...

Updated on Sept. 17th, 2006 (don't know when they were released):
  • Stonehive.mp3 – 3/4 beat with piano and vibraphone, nice
  • SunderockSprings.mp3 – sounds very indian, flute and drums
  • TheSteppes.mp3 – a slow mystical tune, played by tubas and other wind instruments
  • Valdeholm.mp3 – some kind of war song with lots of drums

Sounds great so far...
