If you are poor and want to start a tradeskill to raise PP, it's not going to happen. If you have 100K+ to blow and want to raise a tradeskill up to a point where you might be able to turn a profit once you hit higher lvls, then check out EQtraders

With thousands of combines available, many of which depend on your class or race, you need to give us a little more info.

At the lower lvls your best bet is to just play and lvl. Start collecting and selling stuff like spider or spiderling silks and bonechips. People need these things by the thousands and usually just buy them in the bazaar because they don't want to put in the time that is needed to collect them on their own.

Definately go to the bazaar and see how much spiderling silks are selling for on emarr and povar they sell for 20 plat, and at 10p they are quickly snapped up.
Also look at crystallized sulfpher for resale. If you forage your vegtables and roots can sell well.

If you really don't have the money, it's tough. You really shouldn't do it if you don't.

If you are looking to turn a profit in tradskills without putting very much in, it will be tough but doable. If the playstyle of your character is based around tradeskills or making money off tradeskills, then I can help you. I have a mid-fifties ranger than has an overall average above 250, not hard to do by the rich, but rich I am not.

A few things are important to know and may help you along the way.

1. Goals. If it's just to make ends-meat through the lower levels and you refuse to stay poor until you are higher, then tradeskills could help.

2. Patience. If you don't have it, forget it, tradeskills are not for you. = P

3. Knowledge. Know what you are trying to accomplish and what it will take.

4. Perseverence. Even the richest must have perseverence to attain Master status.

A few points:

- Hunt mobs that drop tradskill items that you know you will need in the future and get xp from. Don't farm them unless they are very green or you are in a bottleneck in the tradeskill.

- Save everything that has a "this item can be used in tradeskills" tag if you are unsure of it's use and check eqtraders.com at your leisure.

- Inventory and bank inventory management if quite important for tradeskillers.

- Foraging classes have somewhat of a leg up on certain tradeskill routes, tailoring comes to mind.

To directly answer you question, brewing and baking, while netting fewer skillups per combine than other tradeskills, are the easiest and cheapest overall to become a master at. With a skill around 250 for each, you can start to turn a profit in the bazaar. Brewing is more feasible at low levels due to an ingredient in baking that drops from a 40-something mob. Look up Kaladim Constitutional and Misty Thicket Picnic on the website I mentioned for an idea. You will not become rich from selling those items but you can help fund other tradeskills or make occasional upgrades from the proceeds.

You will still need several hundred to seeveral thousand plat and a lot of time to get to the level where you can make money off brewing and baking. For a first time player it will be very hard to come up with early on. For me, that was part of the fun.

My apologies for going off topic a bit.
