easy idea for fix for none creditcard users for expansionFollow

#1 Aug 25 2006 at 2:12 AM Rating: Decent
no retail box for sure now . they said nonoe. box complation box in near furture.

here's one option for none credit card players sony should release a time card with the cd key for the expansion. it wouldn't cost them to much just to add the key and charge the extra amount,

or instead of paying $45 for a 90 day card 'guessing on cost' put an option on station web site to use a new card instead of getting the 3 months ,get the expansion and one month. exp cost about $30 and one month $15 still cost $45, they still get the $45 from you and you just have to by another 90day card in a month. only cost them a bit of time to make option on web site and trade cd key for 2 months of the 3 month card.

i just saw on everquest.com that you can get game time through paybycash web site. it's a bank transfer email system lots of ways to pay for game time. it would be very easy to add the expansions to it too.

a yr ago i used them to pay for the darkages of camelot expansions. was easy and took 30 min to get codes email to me.

https://store.station.sony.com/digitalDistribution/tss/digitalDistributionList.jsp?listname=EQ-TSS

http://www.paybycash.com/everquest/gametime.php

email sony guys to get them to add cd keys for the expasion to thier web site. it's not hard for them to do they just need to know thiere's a market for doing it. they more emails they get and forum info on how many need this it could happen soon

I got a solution. How about they just release it in a retail box like every other freakin expansion (minus Ykesha). They just want more money in there pockets and as usual they don't care that it is ******** some of there loyal customers. Until they release a retail box they can just keep that expansion. I won't be bought over by some insanely easy way to get exp and/or loot like they did with previous expansions (DODH comes to mind pre massive nerfs).

I don't know if it would work with this, but you can get gift cards through Master Card and Visa. So, maybe one could buy themselvse a Visa gift card then use the gift card to purchase expansion.

The cards can be bought through local banks I think.

Just an idea :) maybe it will work; who knows?

seriously, stop whining. this isn't ******** anyone with two brain cells besides maybe out of an hour or two to go pick up the expansion via jef's method.

if you thought MMs would remain as they were, you're a tard.

Just a half awake guess here.

SOE use to not mind Allakhazam much; they've always disliked IGE and all thier buddies. Allakhazam gets kickbacks from EB Games when people purchase boxed sets though Alla's EB Games link. Putting 1+1+1 together, SOE wants to limit as much money making from Alla/IGE off them as possible.

Like I said, I'm half awake so don't read too much into this.

I think credit card paying is the easiest way, so maybe get like a card from like a drug store, which will have like a visa or mastercard logo on it and you load it up right there in the store and you can use it like a debit/credit card. They're really convenient. I got one for my little sister so when she does something that warrants a gift, I just put cash on the card for her so she can do what she wants with it. That will work just like a credit card for everquest.

For your information big mouth, they are ******** alot of folks over with the direct download only. Sounds like you're the one with the fewest brain cells. What most folks are mad about on this subject is that we cannot purchase a hardcopy of the new expansion until they get around to releasing some compilation set. I for one don't need new copies of all the other expansions every time they want to release a new one.

Very few companies that offer online media, with no retail marketing, have direct download only. I use alot of 3D animation and paint programs like Lightwave, Poser, Vue4, and Photoshop. Most of the companies that provide products to be used with these are online only companies, no retail marketing. And while they offer the direct download, they also offer the option of having the items you purchased put on a disk and mailed to you from their online stores for $5-7 above the DD cost. And their buisnesses are booming.

SOE wants to cut out the middle man and increase their profits? I have no problem with that but don't ***** loyal customers to do it. The simple solution to this problem would be for SOE to offer you the option of purchasing a hardcopy of whatever expansion(s) you want from their online store. Make a generic label for the disk with the SOE and EQ logo on it, the name of the expansion you are purchasing, stick it in a simple sleeve, put it in one of those cardboard envelopes and mail it out to the customer for a few dollars above the DD price to cover shipping and handling costs and wallah everyone is happy. For those that do not have/cannot use a credit card then offer a simple page they can print out to order using a check or money order.

I am glad you are retired Sir Google, its the attitude of "it works for me so everyone else should have to accept it also", from "tards" like you that allow SOE to pull this crap. Stay retired, in fact go the next step, I will be glad to come put flowers on your grave.

no one has actually pointed out why jeflam's method isn't working, or how people are being screwed over.

but stick to the death threats, it makes you look smart.

Yeah, I really don't see the problem with Jefflam's idea. I went to the Visa site and they have a search function to find where there are places that sell Visa gift cards near you... there are 5 within 12 miles of my house, and I live in the sticks.

I buy them all the time for cousins birthdays and stuff like that. They work great and most of the time are reloadable. Hell, I even use them once in awhile when I don't want the wife to know how much I am spending.

As far as your photo programs, you DO NOT have to be online to use them. Thats why they are offering a hardcopy. However, you DO have to be online to play EQ. This eliminates CD-keys, retail packageing and shrinkage. The justification is that if you ever lose the game and need to get it again, you have to get it online which shouldnt be a problem because you have to be online to use it.

This DOES work. When I need to go buy a new gamecard every month, gamestop always seems to be out of stock. So I end up buying a $25 pre-paid gift credit card from Circle K. Visa and mastercard ones work...but SOE does NOT accept American Express...at least not the pre-paid kind.

I'm sure that I will be buying a $50 pre-paid credit card to get the expansion, and then I will be left over with $20 to pay for my next month of gametime.

No box cuts out alot of overhead costs. It makes business sense. It is not personal. It is also 2006, streamed software, downloads and such are becoming the norm. Get used to it.

i appreciate the info, will help alot.but,id still rather buy a hardcopy, and guess will just make one.ive never had a credit card, and my connection sucks(i use a cell phone modem)so downloading is gonna be hell enough.man, meet us halfway, sell a hardcopy online only, from station,or something.i can order that with a prepaid card, and waiting the few days for it to come in the mail is better than waiting 4 hours or more to download something thats gonna be full of errors, and have to be redone.

So, you wait 4 days for them to send you a CD with old versions of the files on it. You install it and have to download 2 hours of updated files anyway. Really not worth the trouble. And how in the world do you play on a cellphone modem?? ::boggle::

Sure it cuts down on costs, so why do we pay the same price?

Well, not sure if this is where they spent it, but this expansion is by far the most interesting that I have seen. I have the feeling that receintly they have relized that EQ1 is still profitable and are redoubling there efforts. I think about some expansions that I have a box for that wasnt worth the paper inside.
