Greetings fellow adventurers,

Me and a few people I know, who both play EverQuest and World of Warcraf were sitting around, and the question came up: Why is EverQuest better than World of Warcraft, and why is World of Warcraft better than EverQuest?

I would love to see the responses to this. I am sure it has been done before, but, what the hey.

Please share.

Myself, I can find a balance (for the most part) between both games, though I detest certain features of EQ, and love certain features of WoW, and vice versa.

As people start to post, if any will, I will share my likes and dislikes of both games.

As always, Good Hunting.

use of the search feature would have brought a whole blizzard(pun intended) of answers to an often repeated question.

The basics:

EQ Pro's

Older more mature world
Older more mature players (Generally)
Extensive and well programmed end game
Altenate Advancement
Well considered and balanced classes

World of warcraft pro's

Easy level curve
Great graphics with few lag issues
Rewarding PvP aspect
Good solo content
More spread in population with regards to levels.

There is not really a which is better... I like both games, but, there are aspects of each that bother me. For one, EQ's load times can be beyond annoying... to the point where it results in death, as a mob is merrily beating on you, as you try to zone. Which brings up, if EQ had no set zone lines, like WoW does (except of course in instances), it would please the majority of its
players. Downtime is bad enough, but, to have to wait 2-5 minutes just to zone from one area to another sucks.

WoW does have its rich content, just as EQ does, but, from *my* limited experience, it lacks in its overall content. Keep in mind, that I am still semi new to WoW, and am still learning and discovering the game, and what it has to offer. Though many do not care to know the origins of say the murlocs, the fact that they are throughtout the game would lead one to believe they have at
least a semi interesting origin, that can go well with roleplay. Yes, a small thing I know, but, it all plays into the content issue.

One thing I despise about EQ... and it is more a Sony thing, than the game itself... the customer support for the players is one of the worst I have ever encoutered in my life. It seems Sony does not care about its players.... ya know, those lil' people who puts millions, if not billions into Sony's collective pockets, and all we get out of it is.... a roboboar.... what... the.. !@%*?!?!? Not only that, but they crank out, *yet* another expansion for yet more money, not caring that collectively all of the expansions up to dat,
cost some over $200.00 AND, to make matters worse, the Titanium box was just a slap in your grandmother's face, after paying all of that money for the single expansions thus far.
Did I mention, that many in-game issues are handled in a brush off manner?
It would also be nice if Sony fixes the in-game problems, graphics, bugs, etc, before slapping people upside the head with yet another expansion. Yes, I know... if you don't like it, then either quit playing EQ, or do not buy the expansion. Easy to say for those who have not invested quite a bit into the game, and established lasting friendships, etc.

Blizzard has always had excellent customer support to my knowledge. Though, finding a GM in game is still a mystery to me for WoW, but, for other games, like Diablo 1&2, they were very helpful.

If only EQ and WoW merged certain features (the map system for WoW being number one, as well as no zone lines), it would make game play more enjoyable.

Now, when it comes to characters... EQ has it over WoW in many aspects. The diversity of the toons, as well as the HP/Mana ration to the levels. I have as yet to see a WoW character at say, level 60 with 25+k HP... then again, I do not get around much.

Oy, this is much longer than I intended, and it seems more of a ***** rant than I wanted it to be. I could go on and on and on, about which is better, which could be better, etc.

The bottom line is, both games have much to offer.... one just has
to find what suits them, and work on making it better.

That said, I wish you all well.

Wulf
