Have been trying to get one of these done for a friend. Main problem we are having is newbs show up wanting to do one and they zone right into ours and cause stuff to double spawn.
What would be the next easiest trial to do besides execution? Are the others much different? I have only done execution so far.

I thought only one group could do any one trial at a time. If you fail you can go right back in, but if someone wins it, it is locked out for 30 minutes.
Even when PoP was in its hayday and people were racing for the trials, I never heard of the double spawns. As Dot said, please explain.
What happened is we started the trial. When we did shortly after 4 mobs spawned. After we start fighting them another group pops into the trial with us and it spawns 4 more mobs for their trial. I imagine its not supposed to do this, but if you try to enter the trial twice it will let you in. Has happened to us 3 times now in 2 different nights.

I was thinking perhaps you failed and it allowed another group to start. You sure yours was still going? Weird whatever the case...

This isn't how it's supposed to happen. Have you tried petitioning this? You may also want to check out the SOE official forums and see if it's happening to anyone else.
I've not heard of it. My guild is currently running people through the Trial of Execution and haven't had any problems - well not those kinds of problems anyways.

Okies, this happened to us.
I don't recall another group around that may have triggered it, but we got double sets of mobs. The second set spawned about when we were on the second mob of the first wave. We kept killing them...kept the tribunal alive quite awhile but finally went OOM.
