i temporarely have to use a dif comp to play EQ and now when i get to the select character screen it lags uncontrollably and i cant choose any selections

i am using a rage fury (ATI graphics card) w 32mb mem so that shouldnt be the problem plus my bro has played eq for a long time using this comp up to the 4th or so expansion, so the only thing i can think of is memory, this comp only has 128mb
of RAM and is intel pentium II procesor

i can easily get an extra 512mb tomarrow but do i really need it? or do i just need a new graphics card (i hope not)?

you can't play modern eq without lagging like hell on a p2, especially with a 32mb vid card.

If you get rid of ALL the detailed graphics settings and go with a low ingameresolution you may be able to play though it may still lag then...those minimum requirements need to be heightened if you ask me...

...but yeah, that processor is pretty far behind the times for EQ, the memory is also very very low for what you need...

...the 32 meg video card doesnt help although its not what is completely stopping you, I first played on a PIII with a 4 meg video card...it was rough going but it worked...

...get that RAM if you want to attempt to play on this computer, cut those graphics down to ugly and enjoy staring at that ground while running around ingame =p

128mb? Geez. The extra 512 should do the trick. It won't be phenominal and you should probably still turn off the models and particle effects.

ATI Radeon 7500/NVidia GeForce 1 equivalent or greater
DirectX Compatible Sound Card
28.8k + Internet Connection
4X Speed CD-ROM
500MB - 2.6GB Available Hard Drive Space (depending on how many expansions are installed)

the system reqs taken from everquestlive.com, which your system fails to meet... and which are almost always too low to begin with.
