As a level 70 Cleric, the new zone Guild Lobby has become one of my favorite zones to solo in. Let me share with you some insider tips.
Mobs found in Guild Lobby:
The Guildless Whiney Newbie: This mob cons green to everyone. It has only a very weak spell, “ Can I please, please, please get a rez?†The effect of this spell is very easy to resist and you do not have to worry about faction hits because these are not allied with any guild. They never drop any plat.
The Frenzied Temperance Junkie, The Frenzied Virtue Junkie, and The Frenzied Conviction Junkie: These are all basically the same type mob, just bigger mana sponges as you progress through the arc. Occasionally these will train you and they do seem to have a very large aggro range. I’ve aggroed A Frenzied Conviction Junkie from all the way across the zone. These will suck the mana out of a cleric like a voracious, mutant sponge! Your OOM spell, a.k.a. “I need to med†doesn’t work very well. They will camp you forever. You can kite them around the circular hall in the Guild Lobby until either you regen enough mana to cast, or can safely zone into the Guild Hall, where they can not follow. I will admit that I sometimes train other clerics in zone with these Junkies. /giggle
The Twinky Alt: Many of this type of mob will drop a decent amount of plat for a rez and will sometimes drop additional plat for a Temperance or Virtue. They are usually guild tagged but are in a mid-range guild that will give you moderately good faction gains for when you are actually looking for a group.
The Uber Guild Cheapskate: In my humble opinion, this is one of the most dangerous mobs in the zone. They come at you waving their uber guild tags like banners of war implying fantastic faction gains. They ask for a “Clicky and a Vict†then zone out with out dropping any plat or dropping the same amount of plat usually dropped by The Frenzied Temperance Junkies for their fix, less than 20 plat. I usually will not attempt to rez or buff these guys anymore. Since they are such “uber†guilds, let their own clerics rez them.
The Brother/Sister Guildie: My most favorite of mobs. These do not drop plat, but you get the best faction gains of any other mob in the zone.
If you have encountered other mobs, please post to this thread.
Camps:
There are several really good spots to camp.
The main camp is at the Magus near the Guild Hall Doors. It seems to be a spawning site for some of the higher level mobs. Beware of the Uber Guild Cheapskates that spawn here.
The East Room Camp and the West Room Camp are also really good sites. You are alerted to spawns when the candles flare.
A safer camp is in front of the giant Throne in the center lobby. You have plenty of room to see the mobs when they come at you. You can also camp behind the Throne for a straight shot at the Guild Hall Doors in the event you are trained.
Lately I have noticed there seems to be a cleric hiding in every tree and in every corner of Guild Lobby now. During the early evening hours, when most guilds are beginning to raid prep the camps may be a little slow in spawning, but as the evening progresses more and more mobs will begin to spawn as they finished up or wipe on raids. The moment another cleric starts with the OOM whine, you spam the zone with your own “Pull†message to get as much business as possible. One of my favorite and successful Pull messages is “ Free Clickies, but Vict is gonna cost ya, near the Magusâ€
Grouping in The Guild Lobby:
There are not many groups in Guild Lobby camping the spawns, but there are a few. The most successful groups include an Enchanter for Brain Buffs, a Shaman for the casters, a Necromancer to mana pump and of course, a cleric to resurrect. Occasionally you will see a Bard, a Paladin or a Beastlord in one of these guild lobby groups, but not often. These are called Buffing Station camps and the mobs drop a generous amount of plat for an entire series of buffs.
