Soloing: lvl 70 ClericFollow

#1 Jul 27 2006 at 3:50 PM Rating: Decent
As a level 70 Cleric, the new zone Guild Lobby has become one of my favorite zones to solo in. Let me share with you some insider tips.

Mobs found in Guild Lobby:
The Guildless Whiney Newbie: This mob cons green to everyone. It has only a very weak spell, “ Can I please, please, please get a rez?” The effect of this spell is very easy to resist and you do not have to worry about faction hits because these are not allied with any guild. They never drop any plat.

The Frenzied Temperance Junkie, The Frenzied Virtue Junkie, and The Frenzied Conviction Junkie: These are all basically the same type mob, just bigger mana sponges as you progress through the arc. Occasionally these will train you and they do seem to have a very large aggro range. I’ve aggroed A Frenzied Conviction Junkie from all the way across the zone. These will suck the mana out of a cleric like a voracious, mutant sponge! Your OOM spell, a.k.a. “I need to med” doesn’t work very well. They will camp you forever. You can kite them around the circular hall in the Guild Lobby until either you regen enough mana to cast, or can safely zone into the Guild Hall, where they can not follow. I will admit that I sometimes train other clerics in zone with these Junkies. /giggle

The Twinky Alt: Many of this type of mob will drop a decent amount of plat for a rez and will sometimes drop additional plat for a Temperance or Virtue. They are usually guild tagged but are in a mid-range guild that will give you moderately good faction gains for when you are actually looking for a group.

The Uber Guild Cheapskate: In my humble opinion, this is one of the most dangerous mobs in the zone. They come at you waving their uber guild tags like banners of war implying fantastic faction gains. They ask for a “Clicky and a Vict” then zone out with out dropping any plat or dropping the same amount of plat usually dropped by The Frenzied Temperance Junkies for their fix, less than 20 plat. I usually will not attempt to rez or buff these guys anymore. Since they are such “uber” guilds, let their own clerics rez them.

The Brother/Sister Guildie: My most favorite of mobs. These do not drop plat, but you get the best faction gains of any other mob in the zone.

If you have encountered other mobs, please post to this thread.

Camps:
There are several really good spots to camp.

The main camp is at the Magus near the Guild Hall Doors. It seems to be a spawning site for some of the higher level mobs. Beware of the Uber Guild Cheapskates that spawn here.

The East Room Camp and the West Room Camp are also really good sites. You are alerted to spawns when the candles flare.

A safer camp is in front of the giant Throne in the center lobby. You have plenty of room to see the mobs when they come at you. You can also camp behind the Throne for a straight shot at the Guild Hall Doors in the event you are trained.

Lately I have noticed there seems to be a cleric hiding in every tree and in every corner of Guild Lobby now. During the early evening hours, when most guilds are beginning to raid prep the camps may be a little slow in spawning, but as the evening progresses more and more mobs will begin to spawn as they finished up or wipe on raids. The moment another cleric starts with the OOM whine, you spam the zone with your own “Pull” message to get as much business as possible. One of my favorite and successful Pull messages is “ Free Clickies, but Vict is gonna cost ya, near the Magus”

Grouping in The Guild Lobby:
There are not many groups in Guild Lobby camping the spawns, but there are a few. The most successful groups include an Enchanter for Brain Buffs, a Shaman for the casters, a Necromancer to mana pump and of course, a cleric to resurrect. Occasionally you will see a Bard, a Paladin or a Beastlord in one of these guild lobby groups, but not often. These are called Buffing Station camps and the mobs drop a generous amount of plat for an entire series of buffs.

I love you, please post more.

The Weak Charity - These are rare, but deadly, and are often encountered when no other clicky mobs are up. They will use a decline attack on you, after which they will follow up with a deadly "I buff and rez everybody else so I don't have to do it on you." Counter with vitriol and malice so you don't go oop (out of pride).

Edit: I am guilty of being a cheapskate, but not because I try to wave the "I'm so uber I don't pay money flag" but because clicking doesn't take any mana and most clerics have their sticks out when I approach them. I try to be nice and let them know beforehand I don't have any money on me to donate (if I do I usually do, but I don't care cash) by saying "Can I bum a click please?" Most are happy to comply.

Bait and Switcher
This mob is usually heard in /ooc 'Donating well for rez and V'. Once the transaction is complete you have 20pp or less in your trade window.

Pityme
This named will put 5gp in your trade window for a Temperance Buff, hoping you will pity them and click 'cancel trade'

Plane of Knowledge is by far the most profitable zone for my 63 cleric. I can make upwards of 1Kpp per hour, as long as no other clerics are camping nearby.

I used to have this problem back before POP playing a druid. I went through East Commonlands once and I literally had over 5 tells from various people wanting Port, Sow, PL, Port, Port. I just did a /shout saying Im not doing any of that stuff.

I usualyl didn't mind porting for cash, but most of the time people would jsut say "I need a port" and never a please, donating, nothing. I remember one time a lvl 60 (which of course was top dog at the time) asked for a port. I ported them and he just ran off. No thank you, no money, nothing. I sent him a tell asking if he was goign to donate. He told me it is my job to port and people shouldn't have to pay. Sorry but outside of guild/group it is NOT anybodies job to do anything.

Anyways POP took most of that pressure off the druids, plus I don't evne play a druid anymroe anyways lol.

I have to say I have seen some guild members pull that "Hey im in your guild give me stuff." trick. I mean don't get me wrong I don't care to give somebody who has been in the guild awhile stuf. However that doesn't mean Joe Newb who is lvl 10 and has been in the guild 2 days deserves anything special. Nine times out of 10 when you invite low levels to a guild they will either end up 1) deleted, 2) quit the game, or 3) level up and leave for bigger better things. I always love the farewells you get in guild when a toon hits lvl 70. They act like they are breaking up with a girlfriend, and they never have the guts to jsut come out and say:

"Hey guys im lvl 70 now and (insert uber raid guild) will now take me in. Thanks for helping me level up, and taking me in when the other guilds wouldn't have nothing to do with me. However now I am better then you so goodbye."

What hit me here Debalic, is that I don't think I have ever spent an hour in the PoK, even tradeskilling.

I used to do all my Ttadeskills in Halas until Abysmal was instituted.

I agree that this was a funny thread, but as someone who is frequently dead and left begging for a rez that I always donate over 200PP per corpse I must say that I cannot wait for SOE to do to clerics what they did to druids, wizzies, necros, and sks. Druids and wizzies lost a lot of money when the guild hall port came out, and do you ever see anyone donating for a corpse summon anymore? I want rez potions! No more hearing clerics ***** that they have to get paid heavily to right click their epic, and no more hearing me ***** and whine that clerics are stuck up snobs and that I've been /oocing for a rez with four clerics sitting in the guild lobby. Everyone wins. It could even be like a 88% rez potion, that way pallies and clerics are still just a little bit better, but not in dire need. The next mob I kill will ding me 71 on four toons and I like to keep it that way. I don't think I have bad faction on my server with clerics, anyone else on Bertoxx have this problem? (not that anyone from Bert even looks at these threads) Anyway good for a laugh, but I hate clerics that think that it's so very hard to rez someone.
