Apparently Vox, Nagy, and Phinney have been defeated on the Combine server. I cannot confirm that the planes have opened up yet.

The Timeline says otherwise.

Ok, and my <SYSTEM BROADCAST> lies? You think they are on top of that web page?

Naggy was killed on Saturday at least and Vox and Phinney were defeated on Sunday. Naggy death was common scuttlebut, and I received a system broadcast while I was playing for the latter two.

So what happens now?

I find it amazing that people have blazed to this point...

I was on too when the system wide message came up on Sunday, It's not that amazing that the boss's are down already. For some its more important to blaze throught to be the first one to do it than to have fun with the new server the way I think most people on there play.. I think SOE saw that it might be that way and put a time lock on when the next exspantion will be opened too.

I guess Fear and Hate open up. I think the minimum time applies to Kunark though.

On a more down-to-earth note, my level 13-15 group defeated Ambassador D'vinn in Crushbone. Someone trained him to our wall camp and our bard kited, ranger kept him snared while the rest of us hammered him from behind and from long range.

In addition to any minimum time that may be required, I'm pretty sure that CT and Inny must be defeated for Kunark.

And - all of these bosses were defeated by IV on Sleeper as well.
#8 Jul 10 2006 at 10:47 AM Rating: Good
Yes, CT and Inny need to bite it for Kunark. Then it appears you need all bosses from Kunark and all epics completed to access Velious. Then it's bosses and every piece of armor. Classic may be passed soon, but I think it will take a bit longer for the following expansions. I don't really care, because I started back up not to be a trailblazer but largely just to have folks to group with again and to take in the sights I missed as I started playing shortly after the release of Velious and quit shortly after GoD, having never seen ToV even.

Figured the hardcore players would ruin it. Not surprising in the least bit. This is why I didn't bother investing time on either of those servers. If I had been playing I MIGHT be lvl 30 on there by now, and that is a big MIGHT.

what's ruined about it?

can you not log on anymore? You get booted off the server because someone put in more play time than you?

#11 Jul 10 2006 at 11:16 AM Rating: Decent
It would have been better if they make each individual character have to be flagged in order to move on. Everyone had to go on a successful Vox raid, everyone had to kill Phinny, etc. etc. This way it gets people to zones they never ever been to or plan on going to like Kedge. Now that Phinny has been killed will anyone venture back to that zone after Kunark opens? I doubt it.

I don't get the "ruined" sentiment, either. It was inevitable that folks would rush through the content, but I just kind of look at it as a new server, and the fact that loot from expansions will only be trickling in makes it even better, in my opinion. The majority of the Sleeper server is looking to take their time, see everything, all that hippy stuff, and I'm happy to come along for the ride, even if it's miles behind the uber-guild on the server.

Vox , Phinney and Nagy are pushovers compared to Fear and CT. All 3 of them can be Bind-Rushed. No so with Fear. So Kunark will be awhile as they work up to clearing the Planes.

I also am enjoying the game as is and do not care what gets opened. The ability to get a group in any zone is what makes the game.

I don't think the server is ruined, so to speak. I would never have the time, skill, patience to rush to the endgame of the original game.

There is a ton of stuff to do and it's nice to see all the low level people running around. When was the last time you took out Emperor Crush or Ambassador Divin with an untwinked character???

I think its great seeing guys and gals who have been around since EQ began, telling stories about how they almost beat the head gnoll of Blackburrow (what's his name) or Emperor Crushbone.

We have been asking for something like this for years. Just enjoy it but realize that there will always be someone with a heck of a lot of more free time.

I am stuck at level 5! I had a huge EQ2 weekend which doesn't happen very often. Dinged a level 70 carpenter!

If you are worried about the progression experience you could always resist the temptation to buy post-Vox/Nagy/Phinny gear before you have a chance to beat them.

Honestly, I'd expect that most of the people looking for the good old days started playing around or after the release of Kunark anyway.

I'm not so suprised that Vox & Co. have died although I did raise an eyebrow to see that FoH is trying to relive their glory days.

I satnd corrected. Kunark will not open up in 6 months or less.

Kunark will open up in 3 weeks or less.

Pretty neat. Now will we will see what those artificial stop gaps are the devs were talking about. I actually hope they do not artificially block Kunarks opening. I'd rather see them add some new encounters or mega quests that need to be completed.

hmmm...do you think they (FoH) do all that manually (the levelling of the toons i.e.) or is it likely they use MQ or the like? would be a shame if they do...

as for the "artificial block" aka the min_waiting_period, I don't mind it :)

foh only got naggy/vox first, roi got the others first =p

but yeah... their leveling hasn't been completely legit. I'm sure a lot of them share account info to level longer, and I'm sure a lot of them have outside help in the form of MQ - especially knowing RoI's history, lol.

Well, just like everyone else I have lvl 70's on the other servers.

I came to Combine to relive the content with other players. You really couldn't do that on the other servers since the low zones are basically empty, we tried with the guild "Days of Old".

I was a lvl 27 Monk when Kunark came out and I quit for 3 months because of the weapon changes for Monks. At least now I know enough to train 1HB a bit! The new progression servers allow me to visit zones I've never really played in since you can't be two places at once, and some zones just don't suit certain classes. I missed a lot of Kunark for example, since I pretty much bypassed that expansion except for certain needs - T-staff and pipes.

There will always be people there first. I'm sure one or two guilds will break Velious and get all the primal velium again, that's just the way it goes. I would think that the new servers would allow folks to take their time and enjoy the content. Why would I want to race ahead to get to where I already am?

Enjoy the journey.

It's all over but the crying...(Kunark opening on a progression server near you...)

Did I hear correctly it will open on the 28th, one month after the servers went live?

Wow...... 1 whole month.

LDON expansion by December!!!
#26 Jul 12 2006 at 2:18 PM Rating: Good
kunark will be slow, if VP will be a requirement, since VP keying takes a long time. if VP is a requirement, which I think it will be, it'll probably be 3 months or so at a minimum, just because trakanon only drops so many teeth a kill.

velious will also be pretty slow, because you can't bindrush.

luclin will take eons. I expect luclin will be when the server pretty much dies.

I'm surprised at all the crying over kunark opening this early. I mean, it was made pretty clear before any of these upset people ever rolled toons on the combine that expansions would open as raids progressed.
