FD and roamers?Follow

I've been leveling up a SK and am having problems losing agro on roaming mobs. It seems when I FD the mobs always re-agro on me when I get up. Sometimes it takes a couple minutes for the train to arrive but it always comes. Is there some trick I'm missing on losing agro on mobs without a static spawn point?

Not that I know of,I would snare the one you want with a 2min ish snare and then wait for aggro to wear off fully. Then there ya go single pull.

I'd search a previous post. I've never played an FD class or known much about it. I can recall reading something about this kind of subject though.. something about how it's easier to lose agro on static spawns since they return to position, but with roamers, you have to wait such and such a time before getting back up.. two minutes, was it?

Yes I had this problem back when I played a monk. AFter awhile you will get the message "Your enemies have forgotten about you." That message is gold if you have roamers agressed. If mob is static it generally forgets about you within a couple of seconds of returning to spawn point.

You normally get that message arond 2 minutes from losing agro. Note that if you have a snare on a mob, it'll be about 2 minutes after the snare wears off, not from the point you FD.

Important note, if you have any dots or other effects on the mob, you will not lose agro via FD until after all the effects have worn off. If you want to be sure that you have lost agro, always wait for the, "Your enemies have forgotten you." message.

When you FD, there are three conditions that'll cause a memwipe:

1. small random chance of instant memwipe on mob (using sneak before standing seems to help)

2. the mob paths back and resets at their spawn point (this is what makes roamers difficult... it can take a long time for some of them to reset)

3. stay FD for a full 2 minutes, you'll get the "enemies have forgotten you"

When you are trying to split mobs, you can leverage #2 to split mobs (e.g., wait for one to path back and reset)... as an SK, snare will be useful for splitting.

If you want to learn more about FD splitting, I'd recommend reading some of the posts/guides in the forums at monkly-business.net (under Guides and Tactics)

This is all correct. Memwipe on FD is very low, so that should be pretty much discounted. Static mobs will usually forget you once they get back to their spawn. Roaming mobs usually *won't* forget until the two-minute "all enemies have forgotten you" message.

Damage spells will always cause re-aggro when standing. Non-damage spells won't. This includes resist or stat debuffs, snares, slows, mana drains, etc. So your Darkness snares will cause trouble with this.

Thanks for all the advice. I guess I haven't been waiting long enough, never even seen the "your enemies have forgotten you" message. I need more trial and error but so far this SK is a fun class.

I was out on vacation, otherwise would've posted this follow-up sooner... there may be one case where you do not get the "enemies have forgotten you" message.

In the off-chance the missing message wasn't just a weird bug that's happened to me a few rare times, I believe this happens when you FD and happen to memblur all the mobs who've aggro'd you. To compensate, I've added a /time to the end of my FD macro/social so I know exactly when 2 minutes will be up.
