I think revamped Nektulos is poor, previous was better.. Why?? easier to navigate, had trails, and smaller distances to go. I don't like the lack of trails, and longer travel to Lavastorm and Neriak from PoK book. Also, have no idea where to go now for the fairy and orc missions. Also, can't find spiderlings for silk farming anymore, and can't find the merchant that used to stand under the tree by the PoK book.

Revamp is technically nice but not user friendly, IMHO

I like it. Version 3.0 feels more like a forest that if you stray off the beaten path, who knows what evil you will encounter.

I did the fairy mission the other day. Spirit wanders all over the zone it seems, instead of mostly north. The entrance to the mission is down in the lower left corner of the map.

Didn't do the orcs yet, so not sure where they put the orc who started it, but I assume he's still around since the fairy mission is intact.

Yes the 2.0 Nek was easier to navigate, but that was the ONLY thing it had going for it. Nek 3.0, while a bit more difficult to navigate (at first), it looks far superior and pays a proper respect to the original zone. That first revamp was a first rate disaster.

Yea Nek 2.0 was easier because it was smaller and looked nothing like the old nek. With the map system its isn't THAT hard to navigate. I like 3.0 really well as it seems like the old nek with better graphics, textures, etc.

It doesn't really make it any better of a zone to hunt though IMO, but then again it never was prime exp or anything. I guess the zone does see alot of use with DON missions. Well that and the handful of people hwo actually use DODH zones.

I'm sorely disappointed. The zone, for the most part, looks more like it should be the revamp for innothule swamp than nektulos, with all the small islands and patches of grass among the water. It's sadly disappointing.

MY 2cp

It seems the forest are not that scary anymore lol. Have the Dark Elves finally gave up being evil and join the Tunare forces? I like the 2.0 for it shows how an evil forest supposed to be like. Remember the bridge and the guards? This new forest almost look like Faydark *sigh whats happening to the world of Norrath

Visually I like it a lot better than any of the other Nek's. Although like a couple other people, I agree it could have been a tad "darker." Just doesn't seem to be as evil as it should. But it actually looks like a forest again! The only thing I don't like (which is something I am starting to dislike with all new zone facelifts) is that it feels so cold. Same with Freeport, you just walk through the zone and there is no feeling. It doesn't feel dark. It doesn't feel like a forest where Dark Elves would build their home. /shrug.

Personally, I like both 2.0 and 3.0, but for different reasons. 2.0 was much easier to get around in, once you forced yourself to forget the old layout, but the fact that the zone went through such a major change did bother me a bit. Then out comes 3.0, which has the feel of the old zone (yes, I missed the log too), but with updated graphics. So now I wonder who force-fed the idea of a zone layout redesign, and how much $hit did they get from people complaining about it. Apparently so much so, that they went back to something more like the old zone. I like change, but I'd rather see some other places get revamped too, like Qeynos.

Do not like the new look up Nektulos...why?

If I wanted to play EQ2 ... I would.

What? Are you sure you were in Nektulos Forest and not Innothule Swamp? The only real water in the zone is the river that was always there. There's not a single island in the zone.

Um gee hon, they gave you a map to go with it...and there are dingy (but distinct) trails to everywhere important. I'll have to drag my Ranger out of mothballs to find the wandering spirit for the faerie mission, but the orc has been missing since a couple of patches *before* the latest forest revamp. I know nothing of the vendor of which you speak but it should show up on track as well.

Most of us don't find the forest all that difficult to navigate because it's pretty much *exactly* the same "floorplan" as the OLD forest (as in the one from original launch or very near to it) with prettier trees and stuff.

I do agree however that they should move the pok book to a location closer to lavastorm. It's not like anyone is using that book to get to EC....

Fantastic! I LOVE the new Nektulos!

I hate hate hate the old school zone graphics. There is so much talent on the EQ Designer Team, they should really rework most, if not all, of those zones. All cities and their adjacents should be reworked imo. Nektulos 3.0 is fantastic because its literally Nek 1.0, but with updated graphics. EQ Team got it right this time-they didnt change anything, just updated the graphics. Best thing theyve done in a loooooong time.

Hope they revamp Neriak, Halas, Everfrost and Greater Faydark! Neriak: Has potential, making things glow eerie colors and making it look more subterranean. Halas and Everfrost....like I said, potential. Flat walls and a horrible looking frozen river could definatly use updates! Oh and Gfay....just look at what EQ2 did to their Gfay....took my breath away. Beautiful. Im sure most of the wood elves would appreciate a more "forest" look to their home city :D

I hate it. The new grass feature they have taken to using lags me to hell and there is no way to turn it off. Also I don't like the increased size and the longer time it takes to travel in it.
#20 Jun 24 2006 at 5:05 PM Rating: Decent
I dislike the "wannabe Morrowind" grass look, (I have NO idea what graphics they use in EQ2, as another posted). Not really in the zone enough to care about lag or pretty trees, but I do run through occaisionally. just another zone between where I am, and where i'm Going :)

The "new" Nek really is the original one with better graphics. 2.0 was nothing like the original geography of the game. It didn't even feel like the same zone.

I will admit distances of the 2.0 was nice for traveling through but the game geography shouldn't really change with new graphics the way that one did.

The Crushbone Thaumaturgist is now located at neg 897, pos 731 - if you run along the river towards Corathus Creep and check your loc now and then you'll find him.

Turn of radial Flora....options...display...advanced.....click it off and all those annoying patchs of weeds that get in the way (even the ones in arcstone) go poof.

New Nektolus is clearly on par with the rest of the PoR zones / revamped old zones. I just wish Sony would revamp more of the old zones. Imagine a revamped North, West, South, East Karana with revamped Lair of King X and Split Paw! Make these fine old zones popular again, excellent exp zones for low level grinding. :)
