Raising caster H2H post level 50?Follow

Hello:

I'm in the process of leveling some new characters and have run across an issue raising the hand to hand skill. Mobs I fight now (I'm level 56) give me the "INVUNERABLE" message when I try and fight them without a primary weapon. Naturally, I have a tank. My necro and mage cast their spells then I set them on auto attack so their skills go up.

Any ideas on mobs that would allow me to skill-up H2H at this level? Or is there a trick to getting hands that are considered magical?

And before it's pointed out, yes I know it's worthless for casters to get H2H skilled up. ;) I just want my skills maxed before I move on.

Thanks,

Kandue, Tsudos and Zunir

I actually ran into this a LONG time ago (as in kunark era). Just for giggles I tried to level my paladins h2h up in lower guk. Even though I had magic gloves I got the same message you are getting. I guess the only classes that can h2h magic mobs are beastlords and monks.

I have not really spent much time trying this lately, but I would think there should be plenty of mobs that are not magic only. Of course once again how many people past lvl 50 don't have magic weapons (heh how many past lvl 5 don't have a magic weapon lol).

I would imagine old world guards don't require magic based weapons?

If you have two accounts or have a friend with the same problem you could just duel each other. This is how I raise defense and weapons skills on new characters I PL'd.

Are you sure? I dueled for 30 minutes without any skill raises. And according to this you can't raise skills by dueling other than beating on a pet. I don't have pet hold but tried anyway. 10 minutes of spamming /pet back off and nada.

Tip: Gaining Skills From Pets

I didn't realize you couldn't skill up on character, only the pet. I use my Bst pet because I can choose various levels. I mainly do it do gain defensive skills. The pet attacks fast for low damage. Just assumed it would work with player on player too.

The classic method is to duel a Mage with a stand-down command for his pet. (The pet won't attack you back.)

Another, I've used on my Druid, is Snare/Fear/beat. Also works, though it's more of a hastle and a bit more risky.

Light blue at 56, but ..

Erandi Natasu in Paineel (aka Hot Tub guy) is lvl 40, hits like a wet noodle after the HT and can be hit by non-magic.

that is a huge waste of time IMHO......1hb....that can be considered useful but h2h......you are a caster =p you use your hands to blow **** up =p

but if you really want to skill it up try the pet dueling...

Presumably, the OP just wanted to know how to raise his h2h skill for whatever reason. But, if one needed some kind of reason to answer the question, check out the Ivory Fang Figurine:

Your point is still valid, though, Elorian. H2H is a useless skill for all classes except for Monks and Beastlords.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, elorian. And something that was covered in my original post:

Who knows what EQ's future will bring? These skills might come in handy someday. If I can easily level them while I'm getting xp then there's no reason not to.

I'm with you on this one. Though I've long-since retired, the point of EQ, for me, was to have the most capable character I could. I wanted to max all of my skills, too.

'sides. If you want to be practical about it, what possible use could langauge skills have? In PoP, came out with a quest (or several?) that required langauges, then that charm in a later expansion that gained power with langauge skills. Maybe someone over at Sony will get a laugh out of adding in a high-end caster item with stats based off of melee skills. Com'n, PoMischief revamps!
