Butcherblock NerfedFollow

Looks like Sony has gone around BB with a Nerf bat hitting anything that was worth money. All the drops that sold for over a plat have been nerfed to sell for less than a gold; this includes gobbie drops (blood, heads, etc), skunk and kraag claws, and greenblood insignias. Also, looks like they took out the non-named bandits.

my god we were just discusing why some buy plat instead of farming because the lower levels under 40 can only get a few plat per kill. and now less then a gold.

sony needs to get rid of copper silver and gold pieces all together. make cheap items like water sell for 1 plat per stack of 100.. and all kills should have at least 1 plat per kill. it would still take 1000 kills for a lvl 1 guy to get 1000 plat and he's be what lvl 15. still not enough to gear up. but to take it lower then it was a week ago. no wonder moer and more turn to buying plat. i'm sure only 1% of buyer would admit to buying plat. but i'm also sure the percentage of players vs buyers is 30-50% at least. soon to rise if sony doesn't fix the loot tables. i'm not saying to have kills drop a ton of plat. but have more armor and weapon drops for the right level of the hunter.

this is everquest. how about more quests. tradeskill quests. etc for lvl 1-40's , i know the culter armor. but not soloable , unless your higher then needed.

There seems to be a tendency to remove anything that makes the game playable to a newbie. If you don't have a benfactor to feed you platinum and gear, then you are pretty much screwed now.

I understand that SOE wants to prevent people exploiting areas like this, but there are better ways to do it than this.

Why not make cash and item drops decrease for higher level chars, just like experience decreases. This would not completely eliminate the problem but it would severely reduce the number of disproportionately high level chars farming Goblins/Mammoths/etc and still allow lower level chars a place to make some money legitemately.

A low level mob dropped something worth a PLAT?!!!

The 'higher' grade merchant based armor costs like what was it, 20 or 40 plat for a single piece?

That is really screwed up of SOE to bother with zones like BB, it's been fine since the last time they touched it years ago.

Dear god, the depths of stupidity in this thread, is by far depressing. I wonder how half of the human race is able to walk, and breathe all at the same time from comments like this.

First off, 1pp is not how much the goblins were dropping. Secondly, Spider, spiderling silks, and bonechips are both worth crud to vendors. players pay for them out of convienience. Player price and npc price, are not even COMPAREABLE. Secondly, talking about a decaying skeleton dropping leather... Okay, first off, mobs don't drop leather very often, they drop rawhide most times. Now, add to the fact, that the lowest level things with rawhide as a "decently" common drop, are around 9-10+, Oh big whoop. And the cracked staff? Yeah, that's worth a platinum. But do you get them every 1-2 kills, with other sell loot?

You think newbies can't make platinum? I have one word for you. Steamfont. Ontop of that, you have tutorial gear, guild lowbie quest armor which is better than people were wearing at 50 when the game was released, when all of the classes were much less effective, due to lack of combat skills, focus effects, and everything else.

Everquest is supposed to be "EverQuest". Do quests, gain items, money, little exp. Level up, explore new areas. Its not "I want easy money so i can Twink myself from the start, and never experience 1/100th of what the game has to offer"quest.

I just love the attitude people have in here. You say something anybody disagrees with and your just a idiot. I have never seen people so quick to attack somebody because they don't agree with what you say.

Just have one thing to say, GROW UP!! Statements like that are just not needed and everybody knows it does nothing but upset other people and its just not called for. IF you don't like what somebody has to say you should either keep your mouth shut, or give your opinion and why you think the other person is wrong. That doesn't mean calling them idiots, or attacking them.

I could really care less about the Butcherblock nerf, I was just stating my opinion. I never farmed BB because I made more money from spiderling silks as a newb.

the last character i made, a monk, at level 11 killed goblins for 2 hours and earned herself enough to buy a FBSS. (OMGZ a twink!!)

i wonder if this is in anticipation or avoidance of camp wars in BB when the Combine Server goes live.

it couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 weeks ago that i was killing goblins in BB. brains and blood were selling for 4pp and dropping like crazy.

It was a thread similar to this that made me start my baby sk. Ages ago people were complaining that it was impossible for a new toon to make any money and gear up appropriately.

Well, my sk just hit level 52 and is doing great gearwise. He's been 100% on his own for money and gear; ie no twinking from Tweelis or our other toons.

As for the OP, who cares about piddly garbage that sells for 1-2pp. Kill stuff that's worth real plat like your paycheck or paperroute money. If you prefer to not employ 3rd world country plat farmers then I suggest tradeskill items like spiderling silks, leather padding, rockhopper hides, etc.
