I played Everquest for maybe 6 months back from around Kunark to Luclin. I've been thinking fondly about the fun I had playing it and I think I might want to start back up. But with Everquest 2 out, do people even plan EQ1 anymore?
I don't really want to start up an MMORPG all by myself :p
Can anyone give me some rough estimates of how many players left? And which servers to try out for a nice population? I would ask on the IRC channel but it was dead.

Hundreds of thousands, most servers are about the same.
Most players are high level, so what I recommend is... wait until the 28th.
The combine server is starting up, and everybody will be level one.
It will be great grouping for low levels and progressing on up.
