From what I have read in the forums, the experience needed for an AA is equal to that of leveling from 51 to 52.

This leads to a couple questions:

1) Does experience cost for an AA ever increase or is it a fixed amount?

2) If a toon kills a MOB that would normally give experience at level 51, but the toon is high enough level that the MOB is green, will they still get AA expereince? For example, if a lvl 65 toon kills a lvl 42 MOB, and has their exp set to 100% AAs, would the AA expereince get awarded as if they were level 51 (some exp) or level 65 (no exp)?

3) When in a Hot Zone, does the expereience bonus apply to AA expereince also?

Thanks for your help

1) It is a fixed amount, it scales with level though. At level 70 you'll be getting more experience killing a blue mob than a blue mob at level 55. This is why people say it's usually better to grind to 70 first and then start AAing.

2) No, the mob must be LB+ to get AA exp for it.

3) I believe it does, yes.

I would at least get lvl 55 since all your really useful AA's seem to be 55+. It is a fixed amount to gain a AA. So if a lvl 51 did a monster mission with a lvl 70 they would both get the same amount of AA assumeing they had the same % into it.

Depending on your class you may or may not be better off grinding to 70. As a tank class I think you just about need some of those defense AA's once you get close to 65 if you plan to tank anything worthwhile. As a caster though you could probably get by without the AA's for awhile though.

Monster missions no longer give AA experience as of last patch, according to my reports.

At this point according to the following thread, that is a bug and should be fixed in the next patch.

It sounds like its actually forcing your AA slider to 0% XP toward AAs when you enter the mission. Definitely not intentional and we're looking into it.

Sorry about this bug guys, when making a fix for another problem this accidentally made it into yesterday's patch. I think I've properly resolved it and if so it'll go out with our next live patch. Again, sorry about this.

Well, that's nice. I'd heard that it "may be a bug or may be a feature" so my statement was more or less unconfirmed. Too bad MMs are not nearly as good for AAs as they once were.

I wasn't stating that "AA exp isn't as good as regular exp is." I was stating that "MM exp isn't a good way to gain AAs."

A common misconception.

Also, your post was very informative but I question why you had to walk into this thread to create an addendum to the information which should have been, for the most part, suffice to answer the questions at hand. Especially when your answer appears exhasperated, as though we have ignored such a crucial aspect and it must be stated in a more erudite way. I understand that experience is not a "percentage gained" and that AA experience is significantly easier because of more actually experience points being earned at level 70 while the amount needed stays the same, and I'm pretty sure fronglo did too.

Because a search on this forum whould show countless posts saying more or less exactly the same about how xp works. But since the OP didn't bother to search the forums, I typed the whole thing in again to make sure the message got through - hence the exasperated tone which was of course wholly unnecessary and for which I apologise.

Just shows you how bored I am at work :/

Fixed the problem with AA experience being reset when you enter monster missions or use a shroud.

.

I did search the forums, as well as several other sites and I found many different descriptions referring to AAs and experience. Since there are now 11 expansions and countless upgrades to the game that could have affected this, most were probably correct at some point. I wanted to get an answer from experienced players as to how things are working now.
