Weapon skills for Int castersFollow

#1 Jun 13 2006 at 11:19 AM Rating: Decent
I'm currentlly trying to raise my 55 wizard's 1hb and piercing skills. but other than jumping in and whacking on a mob in between nukes I have no clue a faster/better way to raise the skills. any tips are welcome =)

As long as you have a good, agro holding tank, that's the fastest/ best way to do it =)

As the old saying goes, "Ain't nothin' to it, but to do it."

Pretty sure this still works.
Find a mage or other pet class with /pet hold and ask to duel them. Have them put pet on hold and start attacking.

Aye, that's how I got some easy skillups on my cleric with his 1hb. Except, I actually had the pet whacking on me the entire time, which is also a good way to get your defensive skills up. =P

Chanter was easy to max all weapons, not much to do after mob is slowed so I would jump in and beat on its back. Those hits for 2 add up...

Don't forget to get a haste. Every little bit helps.

Yeah, your best bet is to duel a pet. As a necro, I simply go to Veksar or Chardok B, slow the mob and whale away, tapping as needed. The defensive skills are the only real use for casters, anyways.

well, here's a way that worked for me:

simply look for a secluded spot (no adds) where you can pull a mob to. nuke, until he starts to run (usually around 20%, as you know). and as you snared him (you did, didn't you?), he just turns but won't run. just whack on him. refresh snare if needed. and when your weapon does only lil damage, then you can do that for quite a while...

Debalic is right thought, defense is much more important...

Can tell you even on low lvl greens you won't do much reguardless of weapon or stats as a caster. If your defense isn't maxed I would try to get it maxed. Alot of people say its pointless cause you die quick anyways, but maxed defense could make the difference between 3 hits and dead and 4 or 5.

I felt the need to work on my melee skills when my cleric was in the 40s (battle cleric FTW!). So I went to Great Divide, rounded up a pack of lightblue Drakkel Wolves and let them beat on me while I kept myself healed and melee'd. Once I started running low on mana I just trained them all to the Dorfs, let them get killed, med up and went back for more. Only took an hour or two to get everything maxxed out.

Remember you will not get skill ups on green mobs.
Pet maybe best use or a snared feared mob with lots of run room.
If you dont have snare Kajolus what do you do?
It's a question of having some hot potions from pok, maybe a haste and a ds.
My casters are a cleric and shaman so it is no problem to build up skills.
My 2hb onthe shaman comes about when I am grouped and the mob is slowed as I am usually not the healer.

Aye my main (A shaman) while he was leveling had no problem beating on the mob after he slows it.

But since Int casters are so fragile, its alot harder. I've been duoing in veksar ent which is slow steady xp for the wizard, and he can melee/nuke while the gobbies are beating on the warrior. that helps. His 1hb is now 80, anyone know the max for a int caster?

-Note to Jonwin-
An easy way my shaman raised his 2hb is by soloing velks ent (at 58) with his corpsegrinder, procs a 100 heal quite often which saves you mana. hope that helped.

I have been using the shovel. 24 delay, haste and a slowed mob. Not a real worry.
But thanks for the tip.
I find as a shaman it is best manna if i use 1hb and shield. While keeping up with my piercing skills. 2hb is just to have it.

with an understanding tank (some still think casters should sit and med) who holds his aggro well, it's great to just jump in and add that little dmg that you can, my druid has all but 2hb maxed, even her h2h ;-D

I lvled mine up in groups I'd just swing away while till the mob was low then finish it with a nuke.

Would the katta banker work for skill ups?

Get any pet class to summon a pet that is DB to you ,the lower the better. Shaman are the best in duels as they can also Heal and Haste you. Duel or go to an Arena and fight when you or the pet are low on health take a break heal up and repeat. Offense, Defence, Dodge, Parry, Taunt, Bash and Weapons skills can be raised this way.
