character creation questionFollow

i use alla and eqcasters to help me on making chacters i now have 8 accounts the first 4 with characters from 20's to 50's.

the first thing i have now noticed is that it would be wise to put the bonus points all in STA and then the rest in the right field.

i think most would argue that all mage type should put points into INT and healers into WIS. but later in the game 30+ i always have enough gear to max out the INT or WIS and other stats depending on the class.

Until the AA's levels to max out the stats past 255. i now feel i should have put all the points into STA. as it's the hardest to buy for later. STA = HP's in the end game (which i have not played yet lvl 51 my highest character) i think HP's will be the most important to get. as the other stats you can get on gear easy and get with AA's too, living longer then the others who have the other stats maxed earily in life, would be more desireable in groups and raids.

whats your thoughts on this guys and gals?

It really depends on your gaming standpoint, I guess.

To max your character's later potential, you may have a point. However, the other 75% of the game, you'll end up being hindered.

On the Roleplaying side, you may also find an argument, because your character has an increased amount of intelligence or wisdom to be able to use their abilities in the first place.

The entire concept behind those numbers is that every time you try casting a spell(for example), your possibilites are a roll of the dice plus the additional modifiers of your wisdom, inteligence, or whatever else.

In the end, it all could be considered as useless, because of the amount of items with modifiers that you can stack onto your character.

Personally, if I had put everything into my STA, I probably wouldn't be playing that character, because of the many fizzles as a caster that I would have encountered with lower starting numbers.

Leonai makes a strong point. You'll end up being hindered for a large portion of your leveling if you don't have those additional points put into int/wis and you don't have the gear to easily max it out. For a starting character, that's a big effect. However (there was no way I could have forseen this), I'm aching for agility now as avoidance is what keeps me alive longer during the hard hitting mobs and allows me to farm/solo a lot easier. A lack of agility on end-game gear is a real pain for me and it would have been nice if I had put a significant amount, even just 10, into it. It depends on what character it is though. If it's your first, stick to the basics; if you're twinking them completely out, you might as well work on those hard to reach secondary stats.

By the ways, for druids (probably all priests), stamina is waaaay easy to get on raid gear. My stamina is currently like 80+ past the cap. It might even be 100+ =\

Edit: I actually glanced at my Magelo after getting some new stuff and I'm 150 over the cap on stamina and 110 with wis, while I'm still like 25 away (with max cap mind you) with agi =( I'm not worried about str or cha at all. Dex is only like 30 over the cap but I've never worried about it anyways.

From a knights perspective: my Int and Wisdom are at least 75 over the cap (paladin and SK share gear, thus both INT and WIS are on most of my gear) my stamina is at least 100 over the cap and my strength is 100+. However what I see missing from a lot of the gear I'm now aquiring is Dex and Agi. I've spent 15 AAs raising Dex and 7 raising Agi, and yet I still am 10 or 15 shy on my dex unbuffed. Take it how you will, but as Brudish said AGI = AC = living longer. As for my druid her STA is easily maxed unbuffed(although she just has planar power and not the OOW stat cap AAs). I wouldn't put much stock in "I need STA so I will have more HP at high end" -- with decent gear you should be at the cap unbuffed

This was just discussed over at EGN.

Higher up, the return isn't as much as you would think.

All pure casters.. as many points into STA as it will let you.

Now. Progression Server you *might* argue doing it stand up (ie: to your primary mana statistic) because gear will be a while in coming.

STA was the last Stat (I cared about) that I capped at 70. INT was capped from my 20s and never dipped below.

When I rolled Felicite years ago I put the unallocated points in STR.. cause I was always carrying bags of clothes around (tools of the trade) and I was tired of being encumbered. You get to pick.. what ever makes sense to you.

If you ask me.. STA all the way. Mana pool is meaningless over time.. flowing thought and buffs determine how many heals an hour you can cast. 2K mana or 10k mana pool both with C6 and ft20 worn = same number of spells per hour.

Bigger mana pool gives you more for an "oh hell" pull.. and longer medding to refill it.

People rarely die from being OOM.. but you often die from being Out Of Hitpoints.
