It seems weird that guilds try so hard to get the perfect balance, then a few chars don't log on on a night and they can't raid for it. They all seem really defensive about membership too. Like preventing your alts from joining other guilds.

It really is just a glorified chat channel with the exception of the guild bank and teleporter. I'm waiting for the day when someone just starts up a guild that is a chat channel. Want to join, hop on in. If you're an ***, the moderator will ban you. Suddenly, there's never a shortage of players, and you can raid every night if you want to.

Our's is not a raiding guild so we group differently. No requirement all alts in our guild. It is also far from a glorified chat channel. We prefer groups made up of guildies. Then we know what to expect. We have guidlines about looting and how to play. If someone is new to the game you know it and expect them to make newbie mistakes. You also have a long term relationship that everyone want to protect so you value the other members. You play like you want them to group with you again.

I like being in a guild and enjoy helping members get their epics and other projects they are working on. (not too much chat either)

get in a good guild and why would you want to join another guild with ur alt anyway??

the guild im in is anything but a glorified chat channel, and id bet a lot of other guilds would be offended being tagged so, and you try raiding anything ele+ with a bunch of ppl who "hopped on in" and see how well you do.

maybe some of the family style guilds are closer to what you think, but even then, most decent family guilds are made up of friends who know each other well, and use the guild for more than just talking (setting up groups etc)

you will find if you managed to get into a good guild that the players in the guild work well together, a guild also gives the guildies more focus (getting keyed, working to beat that boss thats wiped you 5 times so far etc etc)

im not entirely sure what your point was with this post, but if you want to go make ur own guild that lets anyone in then go do it.

I'm not sure you really know what being in a guild is all about.

Not even Family guilds are "Just Glorified chat channels"

As an example: i am in two /autojoin chat channels on my server. 1 is a "allied guilds channel that my own and 4 other guilds use., the other is the server open raid channel.

I get maybe 3 messages an hour run through the chat channels and about 1 group per month, the raid channel is very hit and miss, it depend on who is doind what and when.

I can garrentee a group in 10 mins with my guild, either joining an exsisting group or just throwing out a "Anyone fancy a quick creator?" and i know i will raid on sunday at 6pm, without fail.

Guilds are so much more than even that though, i have friends on my friends list from my first even guild on AB and i can get a free Conv anytime i log on from one or other of present or ex guildies and likewise i frequently C6 someone i know from guilds that i would never even blink an eye at if they where just in a chat channel.

You haven't found the right guild yet. I am sure there are some who don't impose any rules at all.

You are mistaken to think of a guild as a glorified chat channel. You want a guild to be a LFG tool, it is not. Guild members spend time and invest time to make each other and thus the collective better. That is why they see people who join just to level an alt or get this loot and then move on, as pariahs.

LOL well all that I believe is true...

But there is a guild on my server who, when advertising that they were looking for members...they stated something like " We are a guild solely for alts in order to use the guildhall and teleporter. We will not raid, we will not do epics, and unless someone chooses to do otherwise( and its ok if they do ) we wont group."

Then this very same arguement went on in guildchat for hours after.
