I was reading the thread in here about the speculations for the new so called race. All the ideas were good. Some folks touched some ideas for a new class.. I have some ideas about that as well as a few ideas on old classes. Also some thoughts on improvements to other aspects of the game.

I think that the Vah Shir should be able to be monks. They can be beastlords, and naturally have decent agi and dex. I also feel that perhaps allowing the Dark Elves to be Monks would be very cool.

Dark Elves should be allowed to be Rangers, or what could be coined as a shadowhunter (though the name is used, lol). If not, allowing Human and Half-elf Rangers the choice of following one of the "evil" Gods. Half-elf warriors can worship Innoruuk now, and Humans can already worship evil gods.

I would like to see some kind of "Dark-Race" Druid type. The "forces of nature" are what gives a druid his magic, so whats to say the "darker" forces of nature could power the "anti-druid"?

This might be considered an uneven class balance or whatnot, but BEastlords ( as great as they are already) should get some kind of tracking ability and Feign Death ( a huge stretch and prolly never acheiveable). Bst's are considered primative in their nature, as such I would think that they would have some ind of tracking, even in a very limited capacity. Perhaps not to the extent that druids and rangers get, but maybe enough to "pick up the scent" of anyone or anything in a very small radius from them ( a big aggro-range for pc's lol)

I think the whole concept of a "Battle-Magi" would be cool. This new class wouldnt be able to be a heavy duty meat shield ( for all intents and purposes )nor would it have the straight up nuking damage of a normal wiz or mage.

I was told there were quests to open up the other slots on the potion belt, but I have never found them and no one i talk to seems to know. I am aware of a few belts that give you another slot. There should be more belts that do this, or there should be some tasks that one can do to open these.

I like the idea of shrouds. But I think that the idea of having to go to PoK just to activate one is sometimes silly. I know that when you get DON or DOD ( one of the expansions ) you get a gargoyle tooth. You hand it in to a garg inn POK and you get that extra shroud ( i believe thats how it works). I would like to see this shroud or another one ( again perhaps through a quest or just as a "gimme" that you can right-click and activate anywhere.

The ability to have more than 2 rings worn at the sametime would be cool.

I like the idea of having mounts being able to carry stuff as well. Give the mounts 2 spots that can carry bags...to give more room to carry stuff. This of course should only work when the mount is active, but it could also work like the shroud bank does.

I would love to be able to actually name pets and mounts. For beastlords, I think seeing the names of "BAWB" or "Winston" instead of "so and so's warder" would be cool. Or instead of " so and so's mount" you could see something like "Grinning Green Dragon", lol. I do know that this could create more lag or other issues, but it would be cool nonetheless.

The healing pool in guild hall should be duplicated and be put in the Guild Lobby...for those that sont have a guild or so that one could use it in a hurry while medding or so after getting a rez and not having to zone into the GH just to use it.

Im mixed on the idea, but i might want to see swords and daggers ( all melee weps ) either break or go dull after such a time. To compensate for this, Blacksmithers could get the ability to fix the weapon or if the wep is a no drop, there could be a place in the hometown or POK that you can take it to fix it. Again, I have mixed feelings on this, so whether or not it goes live, i wont loose sleep over it.

I don't think EQ needs a new class, hell it didn't need Zerkers.

Some of you other ideas on class/race combo's are nice but i fear would never be done. The best thing about EQII was that any race could be any class and choose to turn Good/Evil with some effort.

Tracking for Beasty's i suppose would work on a level with druids, but again will never happen.

If i where to change anything about shouds i would let them wear gear, in fact i would implement shroud only gear, and make the shroud bank a real bank, allowing effectively a second charicter. Oh and the cleric shroud need some real work!!

Beastlords should be REQUIRED to name pets and pets should level like thier owners, change the pet spell to a pet rez and bobs your uncle, WoW had the right idea where thats conserned.

There are only two classes i have any interest in seeing added and neither will be "Samurai" and "Pirate/Swashbuckler".

But you're still open to "Ninja" then?

I agree that some evil race should be able to be druids. In fantasy stories not all of the nature/nature spirits are good.

Dark elf druids sound fun, as for a new class alltogether. I think a warrior/Wizard combo would be neat.

like a Dragoon
they get familiars like a wizard that boost resists, spell fizzles and at higher levels hp/mana regen.

They can cast wizard line spells

Maybe limit them to 2handers

With the exception of the mage/wizard-knight, there are no new classes I feel any interest in seeing appear in EQ. I've stewed on the idea of dark druids/rangers and although the idea could make a certain amount of sense, the world is crowded enough with the classes we have. A lot of people seem to believe berserker shouldn't have shown up (a fact that I may nod my head in agreeance with but otherwise don't mind their presence, a 2h DPS class is a very nice idea). I do hope that whatever class(s) show up in EQ in the future that SOE has enough mind to balance them in accordance to the rest.

I always thought beastlords should be monks, I mean the kerrans on kerra island can be monks. And so far people only have 2 choices for races on monks.

Actually I think it would be cool if they made it so any race can be any class. Anybody will tell you race means nothing at higher levels, so how would it hurt anything? As far as where they would live it could bve a town devoted to misfits. Eq2 allows for any race to be any class (although sometimes it involves a betrayal to fully get that class, but still).

I think Barbarians would make good paladins as would ogres. I also don't understand why Frogloks can be necros and wizards but not a mage? And of course once again we need more races capable of being monks.

In any case this thread is purely wishing as I don't think SOE hinted at a new race or new class? They just said a new starting city, but once again there is a good chance it will be Frogloks finding a home finnally.

I have never been so excited about a expansion as I am now. Ever since Gates its all been lvl 50+ mobs that scowl at you and cast insane procs and are spawned everywhere in dull looking zones. High level people have plenty of places to hunt. Also hopefully this expansion will breath some life into the game. I mean you don't think a person is going to think about starting to play eq when all they see is lvl 50+ expansions (and lvl 50 is really being fair, probably more like lvl 60+ since mobs are usually underconned)? But if potiential new players see a expansion with content for all levels you can bet that will tickle there eq1 playing bone. I have said we needed this for a long time.

I think everybody's forgetting the amount of time that is required to make newbie armor quests for all of these class/race combos as well as the fact that most towns are filled to the brim* with class-related crap anyways. Also, I don't know if you guys have noticed, but "so far people only have 2 choices for races on monks" has been for 10 expansions. I'd prefer it doesn't change anytime soon.

God no *shudder.

Can you imagine all the FFXI fanboi we would get?

In truth what EQ needs high end is another Tank and Healer class or crowd control. It has DPS coming out of the YingYang and the last thing we need is another class whining becuase they aren't as good as Rogue/wizzie(insert DPS class here)

CC is pretty much last choise of add management these days which is very sad.

NO MORE RANDOM JAPANESE INFLUXES. DoN was enough.

I wouldn't mind another priest class or another tank that isn't a knight class but isn't quite warrior. A priest with CC (druid roots aren't CC enough anymore) would be kinda cool. Eww, wait, healing and CC duties would suck at the same time. That definitely wouldn't work. The problem is you have the triumvirate of priestliness already. Priest with damage (druid), priest with best buffs and haste (shaman, didn't mean best haste), and priest with priest (cleric). What left is there to fill?

On the Battle/Magi concept what about a Bezerker/Wizard hybrid?
Limit them to 2HB/2HP and chain armour.
Plate class would be too strong as would a Mage hybrid with all the pets and nukes. But a chain class DPS that could drop an occasional medium-large nuke?

I would love to see Vah Shir and Frogloks able to be Monks.
C'mon! Cat claws to the head, Sneak, Safe Fall, Feign Death!?! My cat does this at home!!
A forward flipper-kick and a wet fish sounding .wav for the open hand frogslap?! How can you not want that!

There's already 4 chain classes, there needs to be another leather class I think to fill in the gaps.

Didn't need Zerkers and didn't need frogs :P

All EQ needs is to get the "immersion" level back up to where it was once and should be for a real time role playing game.

The first step toward that is to get the lore sorted out and made relevent to the game play.

Get faction back in line with the role playing aspect of the game.

The introduction of AA's took away some of the ridiculous over emphasis on equipment as opposed to character development, some of the recent quest and arc line introductions help as well, but this needs much more development.

Give people a real incentive to develop their characters and they will happily keep playing.

I've always considered the massive amount of work required to get AA's, key for high end zones, raid high end, single group old raid content, etc. to be enough incentive to play, but thats just me.
