I have been away from EQ for awhile now and was thinking of coming back, but I wanted to join the newest server possible. Has EQ created any new servers lately?

no new servers for a while now; in fact, most servers were merged with at least one other. Stromm is the "youngest" of the blue servers atm. however, June 28 "the combine" is scheduled to launch. it will be a prigression server starting with just original EQ content (and graphics it would seem =D). subsequent expansions will have to be "unlocked" by the server's population in order to access that content.
they are working on a new server right now. It is a progression server, so it will open up with just original eq open, then gradually add all the others, this would be great for someone just starting out. check out the eq forums at www.station.com to read more about it.
Morden Rasp or Maelin Starpyre were the two newest servers.
Morden Rasp merged with another to become Povar.
Vazelle or some such merged with Maelin keeping Maelin's name.
