7-year-old IBM 17". Got it for about $80 refurbished, three months after it's prod date (Jan 1999). Has served me very well all this time.

Rale, why list "16" and under"? That's not even a produced size AFAIK. 15" and under are the other most cmmon sizes.

I originally had it as "15." I don't think they produce size 16" either (?), but then just about every time I leave something out of a poll, someone comes out of the woodwork with an unusual optionless response.

So, for those of you with custom-made 16" CRT monitors, I am ahead of the game this time.

Well, I use a laptop w/ 15.1" wide aspect ratio (Toshiba) @ 1280x800. One nice thing... I can stare at it all day and don't feel like I've got bugeye syndrome. Don't miss CRT's at all.

acer 32inch lcd widescreen for me ... if any of you are thinking of going really big .... pay attention to resolution ... 1366x780 is max for most of the supersize screens ... my toon is huge and i dont get too much realestate for windows ... i will be replacing with a smaller yet higher resolution screen when i can afford it

If you like your widescreen feel but want to save some desk space, go with the ViewSonic VA1912wb (it's what I'm using). You'll love 1440x900 in EQ. I have never regreted buying this monitor. The only other thing I recommend is if you are going widescreen, get a good and very stable video card (256 meg+).

I two-box sometimes and look up stuff here on my other machine. It has a 17-inch Hyundai LCD. I picked it up when I was living in Dallas when Fry's marked them down to move out a little over three years ago. Not a shabby monitor at all...just maybe upgrading it to the non-widescreen cousin of the above mentioned ViewSonic.

21" Sony CRT for me. Until they make LCD's with gamuts as wide as a CRT (I know, but I can't afford the Eizo) and Resolutions around 1920x1440 (higher is better), I'll stick with CRTs, even if that means buying another refurb.

"Run through the 52 inch HD tv hanging on my living room wall.

/sniff You lucky b...yeah. Hehe.

As for me, my 17" LCD Samsung SyncMaster 715v. It's served me quite well, and aside from the financial aspect, I'm a bit loathe to let it go...it's my first LCD. Next one will definitely be widescreen, though, after watching a friend of mine play WoW on his widescreen laptop. He "had" to get it for "school"... /chuckle

EDIT: I sincerely feel for anyone still using a CRT monitor. Once you upgrade to LCD, you'll know why I feel it's like a cable/DSL ISP...you can't go back to 56k, once you've had either of the two.

LCD vs. CRT is the same way...I'll never go back.

crt's work great for first person shooters, or any other game that requires a very fast refresh rate, but yea I re-mortgaged house paid off bills and bought 26" widescreen plasma for kicks.
