Does anyone know the exact calculation for determing if a mob is Light Blue or Green con. In general and also specifically for a 53 toon.

I want to find easy LB cons for my necro to kill and level up an evolving item faster.

(Mob Level divided by 2) + 1 + Mob Level = or greater than your level...

...then the mob is at least light blue.

I don't know what calc is used to determine Dark Blue transition.

step 1) I would suggest in Gunthak, at the far end of the zone past the village outside of Dulak zoneline, up the hill to the south, past the drogs and mushrooms, you come to the temple area that leads to Nadox.

step 2) Kill the 6 mobs on the stairs, (should be plenty of room to the left or right of the stairwell) then go up the stairs, turn right.

step 3) Kill the roaming mob. Continue to a door, inside which are 2 mobs guarding the door from the inside, + a roamer may be near (use invis to get a peek and set up for the split).

step 4) Once you "break" the doorway, you can single pull the rest of the mobs inside (all level 35+). Respawn is about 10 mins, so be sure to allow yourself space and time for med breaks.

If you went the correct way, you should not see any Luggald or Mutant or those annoying Troll shaman caster type mobs.

Edit Notes: Sorry forgot to mention you always round up with the "con" formula.

example1: 35 / 2 = 17.5 (rounded up) = 18 + 1 + 35 = 54, so a level 35 mob is light blue to a 53.

example2: 34 / 2 = 17 + 1 + 34 = 52, so a level 34 mob is green to a 53.

Got the calc from a GM even thought they aren't supposed to provide spoilers. 1UP for GM's! Woot

Excellent. Thanks Komzur.

So the calc is ((mob lvl)/2)+1+(mob level)=(level that mob will con LB)
If
(mob lvl) =x
(level that mob will con LB)=y
then the equation is

(x/2)+1+x=y

Now I just have to remember enough algebra to correctly solve for x and I can write a little spreadsheet formula that will automatically tell me whats LB for my level when I type in that level. Figuring backwards I already know that 35 is the lowest level that will be LB to my 53 necro. I would like to have that calculated automatically for me, I already have a spreadsheet that calculates DPM for my necros spells that I have to enter my current level on to curently calculate.

my rusty algebra gives me:

(x/2)+1+x=y
(x/2)+x=y-1
x+2x=2(y-1)
3x=2(y-1)
x=(2(y-1))/3

Anyone see any fault in this? I use this on 53 and get 34.66 which corresponds well to the other equation.

for an excel spreadsheet I wrote in

=ROUNDUP(((2*(x1-1))/3),0)

Where X1 equals the cell with your current level.

Two more questions?

1) Does anyone have the formula for DB cons?

2) Does that formula above change when you are greater than level 65, or does the DB formula change that way??

Thanks for your help.

im not sure what evolving has to do with EQ, but as a necro in the low 50s, you can solo DB very easy with fear kitting.

there are several places to do this, for me at the time it was Katta in the GY or entrance area. you should prob. start in the entrance area, you will need to ST and melee root/rot the first pair, but once you are past them you can split with ST or FD pulling (i prefered FD pulling as it was safer and has a higher chance to drop you off of the hate list).

IIRC there are 4 static guards and 2 wanderers. maybe 3 wanderers. then there are 3 more static mobs to the right near the merchant building that sells the bards instroments and songs.

now if you are talking evocation as your spell class to level up unless SoE has changed the rules you can go to any of the zones between Nro - Sro or better yet go to unrest and blow up the undead there.

IIRC Evoc is your undead DD line of spells for a necro. that or get in a group and hit Veksar or LGuk undead side. heck you can solo in Guk and have a great time in there.

you can also root/rot in OOT (ocean of tears) at the cyclops island. i took my necro there in late 40s (49th IIRC) and bounced between OOT and katta until late 50s. (57 or so)

good luck.

In the higher levels (starting around 60 I believe) mobs 1 to 15 levels lower than you will be DB. Mobs 16 to 20 levels lower will be LB.

So at level 70, 55 thru 69 are DB. 50 thru 54 are LB.

Also as far as evolving items go. I went thru all 7 stages of Blade of the Night Sky. Some things I noticed were:

It evolves faster solo. It evolves faster in primary hand. The xp splits if you try to level more than one evolving item at a time. Db con mobs level it slightly faster however the kill rate on lb could make up the difference.

Evolving in EQ is for special items (the ones I know of came out with Depths of Dark Hollow, but there may be more with the PoR expansion) that grow into better items as you have them equipped while fighting mobs that give you exp for the kill. Evolving the item is not based on how much exp you get for each kill. Instead, it is purely on how many kills you rack up while killing mobs that do give exp (in other words, light blues, dark blues, white, yellow and red mobs). Thus, the original poster wants to know a good way to calculate what mob level will be light blue so he/she can go kill loads of them (since you can kill a lot more light blues in a row without down time in between than you can dark blue or higher-conning mobs).

I have heard some of the evolving items take over 1000 kills to evolve 1 level and I have seen items with 3 levels to evolve and some with 7 levels to evolve until you finally top out at the highest that item can ever be without adding augs....

now a question, does the toon working on evolving their item have to deliver the killing blow or can they group and get kills that way?

Here's a link to the Search Forums Search Forums... to answer questions like this. Or you could scroll down this page and see a thread already started about evolvers.

Elvo, did you even read this thread? take the 3 seconds to rethink your math bud.. 46+ is light blue to 70.

Quote:
1. less competition for the camp, if any at all.
2. old world mobs (pre Kunark especially) have lower HP/AC/DPS
3. that means they die FASTER, and if that is what you are looking for...

Excellent advice Sin! Tower of Frozen Shadows / Kaesora FTW!

I think the equation given above, might only apply to level 65 and lower. I am trying to find answers to the questions, not give them, the calculation I have shown above is a work in progress and might not represent the final numbers. I need more information to finalize it.

How does the equation change for post level 65?
What is the equation for DB?
