Why not do this............Follow

(1) Make it impossible for powerlevelling to occur. This is going to happen as the "Uber" (Read: People who do not have a life outside of EQ) guilds start controlling everything and then level 70's start coming out the ying yang.
(2) One character per account. Helps end the need for powerlevelling too much.
(3) Trivial loot on all non quest items.
(4) If not in group, only the first person who gets damage can damage a MOB. Also, if soloing, only the character involved in melee can heal. No powerelevelling here!
(5) Soloing LDoN zones, this and regular servers.
(6) Limit time played on this server to 12 hours per week. No powergaming here either.

Ok, I lied. I can't stay in my Lurker stasis as I drink too much coffee!

I like the idea myself, excepting maybe as a specific server. Thinking on the Sony side of the house, they want money. Powerlevelers that sell their toons on E-bay and buy IGE plat for twinks produce a player made economy, and an income to sony. Not saying I agree with it as a player, but I figure it's true enough.

(3) Trivial loot on all non quest items.

I've been /feedbacking the idea of ALL loot is simply made No Trade, excepting for equipable items that are player made, make those attuneable so there can still be a bazaar.

I've complained about powerleveling (example; playing a level 30 toon in Gunthak, only to find 3 level 70 toons with great gear powerleveling their "alt-guild" alts).

All I can say is after my first few encounters with the crowded areas of EQ, something occured to me;

THEY ARE ENJOYING THE GAME (Just like I was trying to do) and despite all complaining etc.. the game is what it is, and the majority of the players are high end, or in a hurry to get there to experience the majority of the game content (which is in my opinion designed mostly for raiding).

The only reason I say that is because most players are on a subconscious competativeness, they see super gear with great stats, and in the back of their mind, they create a goal. They wish to achieve the same super gear, maybe to brag, maybe because that is the next upgrade, or maybe because they have already played the majority of the single group content leaving them with the motivation to raid and raid farm.

In conlusion, the game you want is EQ2, it has many of the same "rules" that you desire. Vanguard looks promising as well (in fact I shut off my EQ accounts and await Vanguards release while skulking these forums for the months to come!) It is a sound idea you have, and very inspiring. Unfortunately, EverQuest is not new, and as such is not capable of great reform like you describe (without massive labor costs for programmers leading to even greater server downtime which in turn loses Sony more subscribers, etc. etc.) But I am sure all that will be covered in the flames to come!

To answer the question:

Not enough people would be interested or care enough to make SOE invest the programming time and $$ to create such a server.

1. Powerleveling may be an annoyance but it is hardly a game-killer.

2,3 Isn't FV server one character only with trivial loot?

As for #4, how many times has someone gotten in over their head and a kind soul bails them out. You can forget about that scenario. Too bad so sad, you aggroed the wrong mob, nothing I can do to help you out 'cause you know, that might be *powerleveling* omg!

#5 Not sure what you mean, you want people to SOLO in a game that encourages GROUPING?

#6 Limit time? Like that is going to happen. If I am paying per month, I will cram as much time in as I want and I will not be playing on any server that limits time.

I doubt SOE will create a server for the small population that would be drawn to this rule-set.

1. Because it is the stated policy that EQ is a COMMUNITY game that encourages helping other players, to prevent PL'ing would prevent players helping anyone.

2. There is a server for this already, go play there, but be warned that it is the quintessential twinking and PL'ing server.

3. What so people have to creat Alts (that you don't want them to be able to have) in order to do any tradeskilling, plat farming or upgrading of equipment from mobs green to them.

4. See point 1 about COMMUNITY game.

5. You can solo LDoN if you are good enough, LDoN content is trivial.

6. As totally retarded as your points where prior to this you have now crossed the line into lunacy, go and seek medical help.

Why do you hate power lvling? If a friend of mine starts EQ why shouldn't I be able to help him lvl up to my lvl so we can play more? You could argue that I could start an alt and play with him. But realize that EQ is such a heavy top end game now. It's funner to group 60+ than the lower lvls.

It's called FV

Again FV

So if I see someone in trouble I can't help them kill the mob or heal them. Talk about anti-social

Like was said you can solo LDoN zones already it's an old expansion.

Limited time played? Are you serious? If you limit time you'll have to decrease your monthly payments. This just isn't going to happen and it shouldn't happen it doesn't improve game play whatsoever.

Sounds like you're pissed that people who spend more time playing are getting more than you. Say it isn't so *gasp*

Play your game and stop worrying about power levelers they really don't affect you. Sounds like you're an anti-social, anti-group, anti-70, anti-guild player who's pissed about something. Go play something else if it's that big of a problem for you.

Yikes you would kill the game for some of us Smiley: frown

How about you play the way you want to and leave the rest of us alone?? Level 70s are already coming out of the ying yang, and so what if they are?? Pl'ing is just as good a way to build a community as any. Who do you think we who do occassionally power level are leveling up?? Our friends of course...all part of our community.

FV offers one toon per account, go there and play. If there was only one toon per account I would find a new game and so would many others. Sony loves me more I have five accounts all maxxed on toons Smiley: tongue Limit my time and I am gone too, some of us play rather than hang out at the mall.

I don't have a problem with people who do this, although I HATE it when they go to highly populated areas where people are trying to exp (IE pauldal caverns bandit camp). Most of the time though they will allow others in the group. If they don't then they are jerks.

(2) One character per account. Helps end the need for powerlevelling too much.

You want 1 charactor per server go to the roleplaying server it only has 1 charactor per account.

(3) Trivial loot on all non quest items.

They tried trivial loot code...people hated it! PEople like to farm. Its how you make money... ITs how newbies can afford orc fang earrings, haste belts, etc etc. Take away farming it will be lke eq2 where you can't find ANY newbie gear because all your crafters are making high end gear and nobody can farm mobs because of trivial loot.

(6) Limit time played on this server to 12 hours per week. No powergaming here either.

Limiting people to 12 hours a week... That isn't 2 days play for some people, in fact if a person only plays 2 hours a day they can't play all week, that isn't enough time even for a casual player. If a person wants to devote their life and soul to the game let them.

I admit I don't like people like that because they are the ones that shape the game. ITs because of them every expansion is nothing but lvl 60+ mobs that scowl at you and require 2 healers slower and tank with 500 AA's and raid gear to take. Its also because of them that progression quests are so freakin hard (Planar Progression...don't get me started) Its also because of them that any higher end guild has strict rules, DKP, and forced raiding. I hate all of that stuff because unless you work 9 to 5 with weekends, holidays off you can't make raids. When you can't make all raids somebody ALWAYS outbids you on loot with that DKP. Nothing like being in a guild and goign to about 10 raids and getting NOTHING but lost exp and lost money for potions etc. Anyways getting abit off topic, but you can see how I dislike them.

Anyways I could just see the game if people only had 1 slot per server and only 12 hours a week to play. Eq1 would be dead by the end of the month. PEople probably spend more then 12 hours a week just sitting around LFG.

About the only thing I agree with you on is Soloing LDON, that would make them more interesting. In fact I think they should just allow 1 person to start any monster mission, ldon, expedition etc. Sure 99% of them might fail, but who cares what would it hurt?
