Stupid Question - Aura Particle EffectsFollow

During a recent raid, the particle effects from some 40-odd people's auras were lagging down my system almost to the point I couldn't play. Whenever I raid, I always turn off spell particles, but leave environment and player particles on. However, when I went to options and turned both environment and player particles off to try to kill the aura particles, they stayed there and continued to bog my system down.

Exactly what do I need to turn off, and leave off, so that I don't have to worry about multiple auras lagging down my system?

Would be easier if there was just a button to click to turn aura particles on and off, but since we're talking SoE here, simple solutions are out of the question. So what will work

after you changed thoose settings you need zone or relogg for them to take effect I think. Atleast thats the case with epic 2.0 particles.

Yes you need to zone for the changes to take effect.

And auras are controlled by player particles. You can leave environmental on.

IIRC there is a seperate option just for aura particle effects that are SEPERATE from spell particle effects. however, this only helps those veiwing YOU. so you would need others in your guild/raid (like we did) turn this option off... i will look it up in more detail later today when i get a chance to get you the exact sequence to get to the area to turn it off... but IIRC, it was that little EQ box...then someplace in it you find aruas, and you actualy turn off an option named aura particle effects or something, had to right click someplace in the arua manegmment box or something, on the aura name......grrrr, i only ever did it once, and that was when PoR first came out, never had the aura options box open since..... damn, wish i had more than 3 min sitting here at home, but rushing off to work, will look it up after work if no one beats me to it ;-)

By default, I have environmental particles set to display only "Group+NPC". Seeing how the auras are generated by an invisible NPC, I would assume that I would need to remove the "NPC" portion of the effect.

Just sucks, that a lot of nifty and visually enhancing particle effects that some NPCs generate, I now have to filter out because there's no option to simply filter out one particular kind of memory-intensive effect that really doesn't add too much to the game.

i am mistaken....i remember now... someone that was having lag problems in The Devistation asked me to turn off my aura. so i clicked it off in the short duration buff box. told him did it, hope that helps! he replyed saying it is still on, need to goto EQ button, character, aura, then turn it off there. sorry, ignore my first post ;-P

He was having problems with lag and asked you to click off your Aura?

That is just nuts, and lazy on his part.

He should do any adjustment on his options, not ask you to click off a beneficial spell.

Just my opinion I guess.

this was in The Devistation, at the time we were all new to the zone. i don't know if you have been to this zone, but is vast, very detailed and full of the breakable items, wavy grass ext. top that off with 60 others or more in the raid.... even my system has problems with it. and i have 2 gig ram, 3.2 ghtz cpu and 256mb ram radeon card. but this zone can cause problems.

so..... maybe he didn't know how to ajust his settings..whatever, is a friend and a guildy, and the nominal bonus that the aura was at that time, was well worth making his playtime more enjoyable on a long tedious skin raid ;-P
