I just got my hands on a https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=3611 and a really nice pet weapon, and am looking for a new class to make to take my mind off my magician's grind (He's almost 45 and I'm getting really tired of 'burn, sic pet, wait, nuke... burn, sic pet, wait, nuke... burn... well you get the idea :p').

I was thinking about a shaman, since I already have a necro, bard, monk, rogue and ranger that don't really need much help... But I'm curious, will a level 12 fire pet really help? How well can a shammy solo 1-60, and can they tank very well?

I'm really just looking for a new character for trades, and a shammy would be incredibly nice so that I can get some potions. It'd also be nice to get into some raids from time to time, and I remember my old shaman friend was always the first person asked into raids.

Also, is the "your pet does 2x the damage of the weapon's damage field or the delay amount, whichever is higher - and always uses the same delay regardless of weapon" thing still true?

Well, thats about it - feel free to share any advice, sites, or potion information as I need it, seeing as this is my first shammy :-)

Edit: Oh yeah, there was this old bracelet awhile back that every shaman just had to have... What is it? I can't recall the name, but I think it had something to do with canni.

Since the Brazier is only useable once, and it is so easy to hit level 10 in the totorial, I do not think its going to be much help.

As for Shaman, they can solo to 70 but it takes some work. A combination of meleeing, DoTing, pet, slowing, buffing, debuffing, healing and cannibalism. They are very self sufficient and versatile. The bracelet is called Jaundice Bone Bracelet and some would debate its usefullness.

I am not sure about the specifics but yes, all low level pets that cannot dual weild, give them a 30 damage 2h weapon and they will hit for 60. (2x damage)

Well I was planning to keep the pet using a trick I found a few months ago, that lets me camp out with him still alive.
I'm also going to temp him and twink him with pet items, but I need to know if shamans could really benefit from one or not.

Buff pet, shroud up, camp out. When you come back, your pet is still there.
Don't make it sound like some super secret exploit, this is well known - although still an exploit I guess.

Not saying that others don't know about, its on a major everquest article site... However its not something I want to flaunt about, if too many people abuse it - it may get nerfed for some god forsaken reason.
But thats aside the point, I'm merely looking for help not trolling :p

flaw in your logic on this if you actually did some research people have 1: already discussed this and is a known trick (being looked into being fixed) 2: only works with mage/necro i belive i've camped out with my shaman's pet when shrouded and poof pet be gone when i come back.

Works for my shaman, I shroud, camp, log on, remove shroud, have pet, with all his buffs and toys. I do this fairly frequently so I know it still works. Have kept pets for up to a week. Sooner or later something kills him.
