Coming soon to all of EverQuest, progression server included, is a new expansion (the expansion name is not yet released). Included in the expansion will be a huge amount of content, including ten new levels, a new starting city and new content from level one to eighty. Also in the update are some much needed alleviations to the grind. Previously, characters would have to spend 20 to 45 minutes regaining health and mana between battles. In the next update, rest times will be much, much lower when out of combat. Devs are also looking at ways to modify death to make it less stressful. For example, instead of zoning out of your body right away, you can hover over your corpse and wait for a resurrect, thus cutting out some zoning time.

E3 Article

I need more AAs before I can think about grinding to 80. I am looking forward to some new zones for my lowbie alts, though. Yay for less downtime!!

Interesting.

Read the article and something else jumped out at me. It said that the new progression server will be PvP only. I think that might be a typo, or at least, I hope it is.

Anyway, guess it's time to work on reg xp for awhile to be ready.

Holy god no!

10 levels is going to take forever to grind... I'm still missing 4 glowing runes and I don't have any of the 70 PoR spells. Mang.

Wow 10 new levels that is a lot of content to prepare.

I have stopped doing AAs on my 65 pally and started grinding again. In a sense I hope I hit 70 before the change so I can feel like I have arrived at a new plane of play before the new plane is 10 levels from the top. Then again I am not trying to "beat the game" so I will not stress over it.

At one point I thought I would never hit 70 now I am close enough to see the day I will be 70. 80 who knows? I am a casual player having fun playing with my wife and sons.

I am glad for the players who need more content. There is a lot I have not seen yet.

SoE hasn't formally announced a level increase yet. Per the forums, they said 75 or 80 is possible but 75 is more likely.

Yeah another levl increase. Jee I hope it comes in yet another quickly released mundane expansion top make sure I get gouged at the same time. Hope they dont bother adding innovative features or content, why break tradition.

Hmmm wonder why eq is dieing.

LoL can we say WoW as in World of Warcraft to the rescue of getting rid of some of the downtime and hmm that "hover over your corpse" sounds a lot like the "ghost" in WoW when you die...

LoL, anything for improvements is a good thing in the end. just hope you do not have to have the expansion to get those 2 benifits.

Jeeze. They should've kept it going up regularly.. I hope it goes up by ten.

This game was always about leveling to me. I had no time for raids and collecting equipment.. I just wanted to play the game, which was, to me, fighting creatures to advance my character solo or in small groups.

I'd like to have been able to have continued that pattern. But, once you get to 70 and all the AA's you really care for, it's more like, "Nope, you've hit a brick wall. No more advancement for you. Please come again!"

Then again, it was rather tedious to solo up so high, especially using lower level spells since, without farming or guilding, it was impossible for me to get higher level spells. I suppose, all in all, this is why I quit.

Anywho, for me, this would've been a good thing.

It is Dark Age of Camelot style to hover over your corpse in order to get a resurrection. You have a set amount of time to do so. WoW is big now but it did not invent the wheel.

LoL, I played my BST for about 45 in day games, and I only got to 65, and only have like 5 AA's. I'm not 5 levels under the new cap, and they are thinking about adding 10 more?! That will take me about another 20 in game days!! Man, well they know how to keep the addiction going, now if only I can get a laptop that has enough ram!

Id just assume not see the level cap increase but I guess it is coming. However if they make leveling faster (IE less downtime) I can imagine people getting to the higher end of the game quicker.

I think the rest times stuff will only be part of the new expansion, and not in any of the zones outside of it (ie all the current zones)

From what ive heard so far (not just in the E3 article) the new expansion will be sold as a stand alone game that you can use if you play eqlive already. I cant say for sure if this is 100%true or not but time will tell i guess.

a new race and starting city will be fun. wonder what it might be? i'd like to see some kind of humanoid type race and not another morphed animal.

it's funny that SOE is willing to put out a server with the 'old' supposedly harder progression route and yet at the same time make regular game play even easier....quicker to med, easier to die, faster to grind out levels.

YAY! so this would mean a new race, since well to be a starting city u must have a starting race :)

hopefully this will be like a Awsome version of Kunark :D kunark was the best expansion lol it had everything from 1-60 (that was the cap at the time) and a new race... lets hope this one is good too :D

So they're all but eliminating downtime and death penalties. I'd rant some and wave my cane, but I'm afraid I'd fall over and break a hip.

Wow. I must have struck a nerve.

I'm sure there are people who honestly believe that the game should not have any mana or health, that it should all be permanent. No downtime, no death. And the /testbuff commands to instantly bump your char to 25 or 60, fully geared and spelled should be made live.

No... in WoW after you died you became a ghost and had the option of finding your corpse again, or havng the spirit guy resurrect you, giving you a armor penalty. This, i imagine, will be more like Dark Age of Camelot or Final Fantasy XI, where insterad of havng to run back and find your corpse, you can sit and wait(at your corpse) for someone to resurrect you.
#22REDACTED, Posted: Jun 10 2006 at 1:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's a similar idea.

Mosy of this they are pulling from EQ2 thats how it was when u died there , hoving over your body waiting for a rez or just relase to the closest respawn point and run back. Eather way you got exp debt so really didn't matter which way you went.

I really wish they wasn't uping it 10 levels, I think 5 at a time was better considering how slow it is to grind exp as is anyways.

Also now they are probably going to beef up old world planes again making it once again harder for people who are not high lvl to enjoy them/get epics. Cazic Thule at lvl 80 probably would be super easy to solo, especially when they have the 700hp breastplates and 40 to resists gear dropping from lvl 80 raid mobs etc.

In WoW you are given a set period of time (5 minutes??) in which you can hover over your corpse. You have an option box that you can click to go immediately to the graveyard to become a ghost or you can wait out the time hoping for a rez. If you choose to go to the graveyard then you get the choice of looking for your corpse or taking a rez from the graveyard angel.
