Anyone know if it is possible to link a hotkey to a macro?

idea is to put clicky item on hotbar and link it in a macro.

I'm afraid as of this time there's no (legal) way to link hotkeys to each other in a macro. The reason being is it would be easy to create automatic actions (foraging etc) by cross-referencing one hotkey with another indefinitely.

if i was going to do it, for say a comand like /dismount then /stopcast to get off of a hourse fast and you didn't want to leave the button in your socials...

i would buy a g-15 logitech keyboard. it has 54 macro keys that you can program...

can make one key do /alt 1 to cast a spell and such.

the keyboard has tons of other abilities as well. i am sure someone could use it for more, but i...err i mean my friend uses it just for minor thins to make little things easy ;-P

If I understand you correctly, you want to be able to use a clicky item AND cast spells with just one push of a button?

That's easy and and in no way in violation of the EULA, as the reply above seems to assume.

Put your clicky item in a top slot in your inventory.
Left-click (IIRC) said item long enough for a 'copy' to attach to your cursor (like when you make a Hotkey for a combat ability.
Drop into a slot on your hotkey bank.

You already have your spellcasting macro set up, I assume?

Let's assume your spellcasting macro is in slot #3, and your clicky is in slot #4.

Go to Options, find 'Alternate key' for slot #4, type in '3'.

Now, when you press '3', you automatically press '4' as well.

I have Kick and an instant-clicky haste item linked that way, and it works works fine. Not sure if it will work with 'non-instant' clickies though, but if it doesn't, just put in a /pause XX line as the first line of your spellcasting macro, where XX is the cast time of your clicky times 12 (at least >10, might have to experiement a bit to get it right).

Enjoy

Hi all.
I am thinking about getting the Logitech G15, but I have one question. First, I am playing two accounts on the same computer with one monitor. Anyone who has done this knows that there are drawbacks. What I would like to know is if the Logitech will continue running a macro on the screen that is in the background while i am giving commands to the screen in the foreground?

In other words can I use the progamable keys to start a long series of /cast, /pause, /cast, /pause then switch to the second toon? and will the first toon continue to /pause, /cast while i am on the second toon?

Sighned

One problem with that thought. The command may or may not be completed/passed to the first EQ window instantly, which would mean parts of the command would go to the new window when you switched.

I am not sure if this is the case with this macro keyboard but the currently focused window will get the keyboard commands if they are issued instantly when the macro is started, otehrwise whatever window is active at the time that a command is sent from the keyboard it will go to the window that is active at that moment.

wandidar,

i have the g-15, however i don't use it at all for what it can do.

however, i do know you can make very big macros, i was playing around and turned on the "record" and then just started hitting keys, i wanted to see how big of a memory 1 macro could have. needless to say i didn't find a limit. it would punch out a whole page of jiberish at the press of a key! now i guess i could test that, make another key with a bunch of junk, then open eq, hit the key and alt tab to another program and see if all the typing came out?

i do know you can record "pause" as well. you can have it press the keys imediatly (like i said the whole page of jiberish came out in a second) or you can program delays. i haven't messed with any of that.

i only use /dismount/stopcast

and a couple of other ones. i know lol, waste of money! what is cool is the heads up display on the keyboard tells you your system resources and ram being used, and when playing other games, it will display information about the game, amo, clips, ext.

it is a very nice keyboard, and has many things i just don't use. go buy it, try it for what you want, if don't work, take it back, tell them it didn't do as you wished! ;-P
