Lvling or solo Rangers Info wantedFollow

#1 Apr 29 2006 at 9:28 AM Rating: Decent
I recently rerolled 2 characters and made a ranger that i plan to dump all my funds from both my prevous characters into. I dont have the same play time that i use too. So I'm woundering what would be the best stratagy to lvl and solo my ranger. Keep in mind im on the Firiona Vie server and I have the money to twink the character a decent amount. So any imput anyone has would be very helpful. I've played EQ for 6 years , but this will be my first ranger. ( I'm still learning alot) =)

Snare/Fear animals. Beat 'em, and toss on a DoT if you have the mana to spare. Whether you beat them with your melee attack or ranged is up to you; depending on your equipment and skills, I'd try both to see which is more effective for you.

You will be spending a lot of time in outdoor zones with a good animal population. As reof said, snare and fear animal allows you to attack while they run. Root and shoot is also a good tactic.
I had my ranger do the tutorial then went to Everfrost, Butcherblock,Lavastorm (doing the tasks for younger players), and LOTS of time in stonebrunt mnts. He is now 40 and still has mobs to hunt in stonebrunt. He also spent time in jaggedpine.

Yes, Stonebrunt is a very good spot. Lots of animals to fearkite and other mobs to kite or fight straight-up. If you're looking for toys I'd advise Swarmcaller (for higher levels, procs mis-40s I believe) and Ceremonial Iksar Breastplate (the poor man's fungi tunic).

If you're still appropriate levels and need some more gear, the quests in Stonebrunt are nice - a haste sash and non-lore proccing swords for 20-30s.

Yes, that's me. In other forums (the Asylum) we go through avatar themes; recently it's been real pictures.

if you have that much plat, you will have a Fungi... noneed togroup, or kite for at LEAST 30 lvls... stand there and tank them... as long as you can. Also highly recommend a Blade of Carnage.

The new TSS zones are chocked full of animals just waiting to be snared and feared. The exp there is pretty good, too.

I leveled a Drakkin Ranger to 44 in a few weeks almost all in the TSS zones doing quests and almost all of it solo. Didn't twink him much outside of buffs from level 60s toons with max EE.

Lots of decent gear quested/drops in TSS zones.

As far as ranged attacks, they'll pretty much suck till you get to your 50's but you need to keep up on the skill. Get a bow with a fast delay on it, don't worry too much about the amount of damage, just try and keep up the skill on it. My ranger is maxed in all of his slashing, piercing, blunt, and his archery. That goes for 2 handed and 1 handed also. While your in pok lookin for temp and anyother buffs either learn fletching and make cheap class 1 wood arrows or /ooc for some summoned arrows from a mage. Than at level 46? get yourself a Tolan's Bracer so you can summon your own arrows until you get your eq/am3. Just my Smiley: twocents
