Last night I finally acquired the AAs for Gift of Mana. Yay! Would mean a bit more if I had Ether Flame(more on this later), but nonetheless, very happy to get this. Anyway, after I got it, I started chain-casting my Spark spells to get GoM to proc, and by the time that it finally did, I was very low on mana--about 5% left (roughly 300mana). Oh, well I thought, no biggie, GoM proc'd, so next spell won't cost but a single point of mana. Hit up my biggest nuke (White Fire--mana cost 704), and get the Insufficient Mana to Cast this Spell message. So apparently I must have the required amount of mana to cast my spells normally, as if GoM had not proc'd, in order for GoM to work?
Also, I'm currently stuck in a weird position atm. I've decided recently that I want to join a hard-core raiding guild. I've seen much of the non-raiding world, and it's about time to see and fight things I've never seen or fought before. In fact, I think the last raid (not to mention the biggest raid I've been on) that I did was Faydedar when I was in my 50s years ago. I've been level 70 for a month or 2 now, and almost regularly without fail, if I get in a good group someone eventually asks me why I'm not guilded, tries to recruit me and so forth. I love the compliment, but I refuse to join a non-raiding guild just to use them to get the necessary items/stats I need to be more appealing to a raiding guild. However, I'm not quite ready to join a raiding guild either. I've been working on resists--have all above 200 self-buffed, and magic over 300 (I have 3 of the 4 DoN +12 augs). Most guild websites I've perused state needing all resists over 300. Also, I have no level 70 spells, only 1 69 spell, and only 3 68 spells. I have only done 2 DoD spell missions, when I was lucky enough to hook up with some friends doing them. It would seem to me that the best course of action would be to join the guild in order to get the help to get the spell missions done, but would a hardcore raiding guild invite me in, if I don't have the best spell in my repertoire? Please, if anyone's been in this type of position before, I could use the advice. Thanks
