Not being able to forage while on a mount.

How would changing that be overpowering in anyway?

If you change anything even client side, technically you are "changing" the game, even if it is on your side.

Cannot use a social macro while you are casting.

Often times I will cast a complete heal or other and not have time to use the macro button. While the 10 seconds are ticking off it would be nice to hit a social macro. Typing it in works, why not the macro?

It works if you click the macro button itself, but not the button that you put on the toolbar. That's one of those things that makes me go "Well, that's stupid".

Not being able to /wave while sitting. Silly I know but please, like I can't wave my hand while sitting on my rump??? /boggle

I'm guessing you can't do anything about this one, but not being able to duck out of a cast while on a mount.

The /who all group is an AWESOME idea!!

I can definitely do the first, and I wouldn't be surprised if I could work out a way to do the second... but, although initial people I talked to were optimistic about it, I just got an answer back from a csr lead saying its a nono.

So unless that changes, even if I continue development somewhere... it won't be these boards.

thread here on the sony boards about it, hoping to see a developer respond, but I doubt it will happen.

I find that admin/rep's name sadly ironic, considering how rougly they like to treat us lowly players. Smiley: frown

Would this project be named 'MQ'?

using part of the macroquest codebase, yes.

macroquest, no. It gets pretty useless for anything besides what I intended it for, when you chop out three quarters of the defines, and all of the commands.

it's an amazingly extensible platform.

Yeah like SOE will ever fix anything that's not to our benefit or that doesn't crash the game. So we'll just sit around and wait for SOE to get to it.

What boggled wasn't even that they said no - but that they deleted a thread that was about a very relevant-to-eq topic, phrased in a very reasonable, non-flamebait manner, that was keeping the discussion very civil, even to people who didn't like it.

Meanwhile, they leave up threads absolutely bashing sony, full of the most outlandish criticisms. They've also left a fair number of threads about EULA no-nos up in the past, all more 'harmful' than this, so it's not just that they object to EULA violating content on their boards.

At the risk of sounding cynical, it was probably just that they didn't want to take the time to make the changes, and had someone propose a method whereby the community could easily make very minor, non-gamealtering changes legally, who wasn't getting the living crud flamed out of him by the community, thus making them look bad to a few people.

Maybe you could sell your "program" to SoE. Then we could all benefit in their "legal" eyes. After all, your just trying to fix things that should work that way anyway.

NM. They'd probably want you to just give it to them.

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't mind doing so.

My fixes are pretty hackish, but they could be pretty easily inserted in to everquest.exe, if they're shorter than the equivelant work spent coding them legitimately, or very easily given away as an addon program. Atm, and unless sony changes something pretty big, they will cause 0 stability issues.

Oh well - I'm working on a little translator for Rodth at the moment that I'll certainly post publically, even if they say it is a violation. I'll probably update what I was working on previously and post it somewhere publically as well - Alla's just probably isn't the best place for something already declared EULA violating.

I've violated the EULA before I'm sure (actually teehee, one of my accounts violates it every time I log on...,) and I doubt they would attempt to ban me for an admitted good-faith program.

I've decided just host this on my googlepage, and use an ezboard community for discussions/feedback on it. I'll probably stick a link in my signature. (to admins who happen to glance over this: I know alla's generally avoids things contrary to game companies' policies, but this is designed to enhance gameplay experience while not providing any benefit over other players. It's - to me at least - innocuous.)

In my mind, much like the world sees the United States, so do we see EQ. The world hates our government, but likes our people. Likewise, we like EQ and hate Sony.
