Ok. I want to start playing regular EQ. But first I need to get some questions answered please. First, Does anyone know and can tell me the minimum system requirments? I have a Dell Dimension 2400 and I need to know if I can run it. Also, what one should I get it. Everytime i go to a game store I see like 100 different ones. Lol. And what is the best one? Do any of them have PvP Servers? Also , can some people tell me whats good about regular EQ and if alot of people play it?

Thanks, Please post im desprate for a good game to play, and i would have to spend around 200 dollars to upgrade for Eq2 or WoW.

Buy the titainuim pac. It has all the expansions but prophecy of ro.
The game has only one PVP server at this time.
More people seem today to play WOW but a few folks who left WOW are coming back. Read a few other threads about the game and changes on this forum to get other perspectives.
What is good about Eq is the game is designed for group play. You are always interacting with other players. It is the interpersonal interacting that keeps me playing.

As far as your computer I have no idea. Look at the sony game site or check in the tec forum here.

thanks. Do you know where I can find videos of Regular EQ?

edit: also , how much a month is it to play EQ? Is there a free 30 day trial when you first get it like most MMOs ?

and is there a system requirments test you can do that will tell you if you can play or not, like other MMOs have?

There's not really any video footage that would give you an accurate depiction of the game.

Go to the everquest website (I'll let you take a guess as to what it is) and start up an account and try "Escape to Norrath." It's free and you can get up to level 10 in there and get a feel for the game.

ok, its downloading now, going pretty slow, 2 hours and 48 minutes remain...wow. Lol. I'm really trying to decide what I want right now. I want to play WoW or EQ2 but I would have to spend atleast 300 just on computer upgrades, because my computer is 4 years old. I dont even know if it will run regular EQ. It only has 256 MB RAM and a 64 MB intel graphics card. How much a month is this game? Do alot of people still play ?

It's 15 dollars a month (I believe) and yes, lots of people do still play. The numbers are pretty skewed towards high end but it's not hard to find people to group with to get up there. I've played WoW thoroughly and I can tell you I enjoy different aspects of each game more than the other. If you want a really solid PvP experience, go to WoW. If you want too much to do, play EQ. Don't even touch EQ2, it's not worth it.

To start with you are going to need a gig of ram and a good video card. I think maybe you better be looking for a new computer. Did I see you played WOW with 256 ????? How on earth did you move ?

I cant play the trial you told me to download, i get this error. "The Procedure entry point DdEntry10 could not be located in the dynamic link library DDRAW.dll."

Anyone know what I can do about that.

And no, I never played WoW. Where do you get that from lol.

you dont need a gig of ram and a good video card. you can get away with much much less then that if you turn settings down and have high speed internet. I was playing PoP with a p2 350, voodoo5 and 386 ram lo1. however EQ will run like a champ with a gig of ram and a good video card so its the ideal way to go.

You need the latest version of Direct X. You can download it at http://www.microsoft.com/directx

The requirements aren't very high at all. I've done content up to DoN on my laptop (group or solo only; raids would probably choke too much). Stats are as follows:

P4 1.6Ghz mobile CPU
512mb RAM
16mb GeForce2 Go mobile video

My desktop runs it very well:

Celeron 2.6ghz
1GB RAM
256mb GeForce FX5700

So depending on your processor you could run EQ passably, though you'll likely have to use pretty low graphics/effects settings. Doubling your RAM will help greatly - my laptop was originally 256mb/8mb video and I still played on occasion.

EQ requirements are very low. The only thing u need to be warned about is that the game is all about grinding xp and raiding for loot. If you're not interested in taking a long time to do everything the game is not for u.

I would say that 'grinding for xp and raiding for loot' is not all the game is about, and gives a rather poor impression of a great game.

Eq gives you what you put into it. If you want to play casual, spend a few hours a day adventuring, grouping, tradeskilling, questing, hanging around with in-game friends then yes, it's going to take awhile for your character to get to a really high level....but the interaction and content you will have explored, the adventures you will have gone on, the satisfaction of having skilled up in a trade and made in-game weapons and items yourself, the memories you will gain and the fun times making new friends....trust me, taking a while to level up a character is no big deal when you think of that kind of trade-off.

As far as raiding, and xp grinding...to each his or her own. Its not my preferred style of play, and I havent done it much, but I can see how the thirst for glory and the gaining of mighty treasures after having killed a god or gods...that has it's own rewards too. Every person gets something different out of this game. My main, Sundaki, is a lvl 64 cleric of Stromm. He's taken a little over two years to get there...a long time, some may say, but because of my schedule (i work third shift) I dont have a lot of time to play, and I am on opposite most everyone else, so not a lot of grouping. Ive learned to adapt, however. And I have made a lot of friends! And have had some of the most amazing adventures in this game, some of the most enjoyable times too.

Join us on Stromm. Its a friendly server, with a lot of helpfull folk. Look me up, i'll be glad to show you around, and show you that this game can be more than just the ordinary 'xp grind'! WOOT!

Sundaki Wolfmoon, husband of Feralkin Jatha Snowypaws, 64th lvl cleric of Mithanial Marr, Stromm server.

I have an old comp around 4 or 5 years old, however I did buy more ram to get to 756 ram. I have a g-force video card, a g-force 2 or better is recommended, the game can be played with 500 mb ram but some features should be turned off for easy movement while in game and zoning. There are many servers which you would have to pick from, role-play, pvp, newbie or progressive. there is a tutoral you go thru to lvl 10 which is nice for learning the game. Thousands of people play and many for years at a time. The experience is well worth a try
